I still say the drives will be the weak point. Cautious or not, Your not wanting to add HP to baby the throttles. JMHO. What is the weight of the boat? what size prop and how many blades. These will all add to the stress on the drives.

Last summer before the starboard blew up or had any work done I was running abt 75. I blew the starboard engine in may and wasnt back in the water until end of aug. I was babying it for the rest of the season....

I was thinking the same... maybe should upgrade the drives first then look for hp??? I sit around 10,000 lbs with 4 blade 26p bravos

My 525SC was just fine at almost 8# of boost for 275hrs and was still going strong when I sold the boat. The engine had 475hrs+ on it with a top refresh and cam and 350hrs.
