Boats shot up in price in 05-06-07 in reality the economies of scale were the best they ever had been the prices should have stayed flat if not gone down. More boats you produce the lower the costs should have been on each one. However the customers were flush with cash and would pay a premium and the rise in prices was on. Now the reverse has happened, the costs are higher per unit but the market won't bear the higher prices.

Look at a twin step Top Gun.....2000-01 that was a 240K boat, in 2005-6 that was 440K and I would bet that is a 500K boat today. On the used market a 2000-2001 can be had for 100K +/-. Even sending that 2000-01 to Lipship for a full refresh (new motors, drives, paint, interior)and spending 150K (insanity but done to Phil's perfection) you would be into that boat for 1/2 of what a new 2014 Top Gun costs despite it being the same hull. 95% of the guys here on OSO couldn't tell the difference between a Lipship redone 2000 TG and a brand new one. So why buy a new one? Would the redone boat be any less of a boat?

And liberals cry there has been no inflation since the 70s. I wish.

And let's not even get started on the pricing on 2004 vs. 2014 diesel pickups.

Base price on Chevy's website is 51,000 for a new 2014 Stingray so 8K increase in 10 years isn't terrible

My 2013 diesel cost $4000 more then My 2010 diesel EXACT same options even color.

My 04 F350 Diesel had every single option Ford offered in 04 and the window sticker was 46k. The 14 F350 with the same options is $57410. So thats roughly 10% increase in 10 years.

Actually I think that is closer to a 24% increase?
