Bought the boat with about 30 hours and not too sure of the maintenance on it before us. Cobra just rebuilt all 3 engines @ $10k each with a 50 hour warranty. They dynoed just under 750hp. We added dual water pumps to help make sure headers don't become problem again. We change the oil every 15-20 hours so now hopefully we won't have to worry about them for quite a while. We also change the drive gear lube every 30 hours, transmission gear lube every 30 hours, supercharger oil after every run. I'm not sure what 525's cost to rebuild but the 700's do require more maintenance and cost more overall, but the extra performance is worth it IMO.

That quite an excessive fluid change intervals, especially blower oil after every run? Is it a race boat?

309 hours on a 600 sci with stage 2 whipple upgrades with no motor problems. I change drive oil every 25 hours. Engine oil every 50 hours. Supercharger oil, impeller, plugs once a year. I am on my 3rd drive. This one has gone for over 100 hours with no problems. Boat is a Howard Sportdeck with a single 600. It does not use any oil and still runs as new.

I had the same question. From what I found out NXT transmission doesn't hold up,so I am putting together a 525efi with stage 2 Whipple with IMCO SCX4 drive #6 prop shaft, approx 800hp in a 27'Progression.Plus the 700NXT package is a lot more money.will see what happens.

I have heard the SCX4 can scrub anywhere from 10-15 mph in some case's , with a 800 hp in 27ft boat you should talk to IMCO on a SXC upper with a Sc lower .thats what i am running with 740hp in 29ft boat no problems at all .

No but it's easy enough to drain the blowers and fill them up. Takes 25 min and very little oil. It's way overkill obviously, but gives us peace of mind

Blower oil change after every run???? This is a waste of natural resources. Blower takes 6 oz of Castrol 20/50 synthetic oil. Good for 50 hours.
