Default Winter projects, looking for tips, tricks, advice....

Converting the boat from a stand up to a sit down. Have the seats ordered, similar to sparcos etc. and I am going to make a console between the seats for the controls, stereo and switches. Removing the factory dash pod and placing gauges across the center of the dash.

Since I am moving all the switches, gauges etc, and would most likely have to do a ton of splicing, slicing and dicing to the wiring (which already looks like a crack addict took a machete to). Would it be easier to buy a new merc harness, some wire and just rewire the whole thing? What size wire do I need etc?

Next I have a set of zero effort controls out at the chromers, the cables come up from the bottom. This is a challenge because there won't be a whole lot of room under them. Is there a kit out there to deal with this or tricks to making it work? More flexible cables avail?

Going from this to something like this...

One thing I can suggest is just make sure your seats are high enough so you can see above the windshield if needed, but not to high that your feet dangle like a kid in a high chair..

I would find a local shop, one that maybe parts out boats or ends up with old take off parts. Befriend them . . . . bring'em lunch once in a while. Maybe they have some deals on spare stuff. . . .

yep, would need a 300 ob to be competitive, significantly more expensive than a 250. Also after running it on flat water and some lumps, it would be rather sedate for general use with an ob.

Yea I wouldn't do it. With the big block prob runs mid 60's? A hot small block would be nice less weight
