Cat beached on Sunshine Key.

My dad just sent me a pic of a blue Nor Tech, or MTI thats sitting beached on the island. I guess the guy is from Jersey, anyone know anything about it?

TBAG 11-11-2013 12:09 PM

So...........post the pic!!!

phragle 11-11-2013 12:12 PM

A cat pulled up on a beach in the keys the day after keywest...was the guy sitting in front of it in a beach chair with a drink in his hand and his toes in the sand?? Or by beached do yuo mean 30 yards up the beach from the water as in OOOOOPPSSSS!

12meter joe 11-11-2013 12:30 PM

Is this a guessing game?

THRILLSEEKER 11-11-2013 12:41 PM

Either someone hit the beach or left it up on the beach when the tide went out, either way, it's not good, bummer.

Waterboy123 11-11-2013 02:12 PM

Hmmm, that's not how I'd personally beach a boat if I was only stopping off for a quick drink...

machloosy 11-11-2013 02:13 PM

That's up there...

baditude 11-11-2013 02:16 PM

It's a 52' MTI

Looks like a "beach it to keep it from sinking" type beaching IMHO...if it was intentional.

That is the new 52 MTI that is owned by Brad Benson. Matt Trulio did an article on it about a week ago.

Hopefully he got the lids on the strainers nice and tight.... That would really suck if that turned out to be the problem, because it looks like a "Beaching in lieu of Sinking" event to me.... IMHO.

314joey 11-11-2013 03:21 PM

I hope he has Sea Tow.....................

12meter joe 11-11-2013 03:39 PM

Hope he isn't one of those guys on the insurance thread without any! :cartman:

tzrider 11-11-2013 03:41 PM

The initial story is the escape hatch blew off and the boat was filling with water so he beached it

noli 11-11-2013 03:44 PM

.
awesome boat , any video of her running ?
.

Tborisch 11-11-2013 03:45 PM

Whoops... that will put a dent in the ole customer satisfaction scale.... Flood the cockpit with saltwater, might as well total it.

fountain4play 11-11-2013 04:05 PM

Man that's too bad it's one beautiful boat, hate to hear things like this... Jim

f_inscreenname 11-11-2013 05:01 PM

Wow.
Even the expensive boats have issues.

sea6 11-11-2013 05:09 PM

boats74 11-11-2013 05:11 PM

Naw, if you can afford a boat like that, you don't need Ins. :)

How did they get it off the beach?

they pushed it off with a D10 dozer, i think they put a couple of tires between the blade and the hull

44MTI 11-11-2013 06:53 PM

The escape hatch is above the water line at rest.
It's possible that the hatch locks got accidentally kicked open while out playing in some big water, and the crew kept going until the hatch was beat off not knowing it was designed above the waterline

Wildman_grafix 11-11-2013 06:53 PM

I was thinking commdersander knows a quality savage crew.

That is correct.. the seas were big on the outside and brought it in to saved it from any additional damage. Boat is back on trailer northbound with no damage. Owner was at mostly upset that no one was grilling burgers at the beach.
