All I can say is.... HO-LEEEEEEEE CHIT, thats fast.

sean stinson 08-08-2002 07:35 PM

Did you have your landing gear up?????

Waterfoul 08-08-2002 07:45 PM

Am I reading that right?? Max speed is 191.6 mph???? DAMN!!!!!!! Can I have a ride? Can I??? Can I please????

MarinePerformance 08-08-2002 08:43 PM

Landing gear up

Hopefully not cleared for takoff.

No riders just a driver and throttleman.

Did I forget to mention 75% throttle.

jc

Miller 08-08-2002 08:55 PM

I hope the t-man and driver were wearing DEPENDS, 'cause that speed could induce chitting in one's pants... :D

cuda 08-08-2002 08:57 PM

Jesus H!!!!!!! What was that run in? Gives me chills thinking about going that fast on anything attached to earth!

MarinePerformance 08-08-2002 09:09 PM

I honestly don't know how much is attached to the earth or water at that speed.

jc

sean stinson 08-08-2002 09:12 PM

Not to mention the drag strip stretch of water you do this on.

MarinePerformance 08-08-2002 11:12 PM

The boat actually handled it amazingly well. Theres still a lot left, who knows what the limit is....

jc

boot 08-08-2002 11:23 PM

OK you asked for it. It's first public appearance of sorts. You guys seem to be able to figure an awful lot out from a photo. Let's hear it!

jc

Dean Ferry 08-09-2002 11:45 AM

The Cat is out of the Bag! I'll refrain from posting any data, this should be interesting as to the responses you'll get from the OSO crowd.
MD
PS, Cosker, how come I only see Pompi working on the boat? Is the only time you leave your computer is to Throttle this beast?
HeHeHE
:D

CigDaze 08-09-2002 01:53 PM

jc,

Nice paint job...looks a little different than the last time I saw it...It's not quite as gray. ;)

Man, if 191.6 doesn't give you jollies, I don't know what will!!! ;) :D

timucin 08-09-2002 02:19 PM

cool !
;)

T2x 08-09-2002 02:37 PM

One word of caution......in all this exuberance.

At that speed.......... your first mistake...............will be your last.

God Speed

rockstrmkr 08-09-2002 03:19 PM

Tencara race boat

I'm guessing twin Lycoming JT's..????

timucin 08-09-2002 04:31 PM

himm
tencara or marine technology?
or tencara designed martech built?

glassdave 08-09-2002 05:06 PM

i'm with rockstrmkr . . i'm guess'n Lycoming too . . noticed the two oval vent look'n things just ahead of the scoops. . .an if its got 25% throttle left at 191mph    it aint no piston powered thing. also the use of the term % leads me to think turbine too. man i just might hafta make plans for LOTO

MarinePerformance 08-09-2002 05:10 PM

Timucin

It is a Tencara - good call - but whats a Martech?

It's hard to see the powered by Lycoming sticker on the trailer from that far away.

jc

sgrady 08-09-2002 05:33 PM

I may have to come see this ! What is the dates and times at LOTO ? Website ?:D

JC

How long before you get the new drive set up in place that JP was telling me about?

Sean

Waterfoul 08-09-2002 06:04 PM

Inquiring minds want to know:

For those of us who will be at LOTO, can we expect to get a glimpse of this water rocket as it goes by at speeds that may make the Bacardi Silver boat look slow?? Tell me it's true!!! Please!!!!!!!!

timucin 08-09-2002 06:14 PM

martech= marine technology

http://www.marinetechnologyinc.com/

merlin540 08-09-2002 07:22 PM

:D

MarinePerformance 08-09-2002 07:26 PM

Sean - The new drives went on this week and we are running the boat again on Tuesday. Going up 3 1/2" in pitch on the props.

Both boats (this one and the Callan 55) are leaving a week from Monday to go to LOTO. See www.callanmarine.com for more info on the 55.

T2X - Thank you for your concern.

The boat has:
Full Canopy
5 point harnesses
Full time air
Leg pony air bottles
Full intercom with communications to the support trailer
Full telemetry to the race trailer for a second set of eyes on the gauges.
Kevlar scatter blankets on the turbines
Fire suppression system

Trust me safety has been one of our main priorities on this project. Followed very closely by top speed.

jc

sean stinson 08-09-2002 10:32 PM

Keep me in the loop guy's I am very anxious as to this turn of events.

This is exploring a new frontier boys and girls once you see the maintanence costs Marine Perf might just be overwhelmed with orders for build slots.

Sean

MarinePerformance 08-10-2002 08:13 AM

One safety item I forgot. It's got to be one of the first boats to employ HANS devices.

jc

sean stinson 08-13-2002 05:00 AM

Sssssooooooooooooo enquiring minds want to know, bro!!!!!!!!!!!

Dean Ferry 08-13-2002 07:16 AM

JC,
I came into work early today, 0530, so I can bust out of here early to come over and spectate. I think it'll take about 20-30 minutes to get there. I'll just go over to the support trailer, (which in on the old bridge, correct) and watch from there. Let me know if I can bring anything, in the way of "refreshements" or whatever!
See you later today,
MD

CigDaze 08-13-2002 09:23 AM

Marine Performance,

Just out of curiosity, where were the testing and speed trials conducted? Daytona?.....

MarinePerformance 08-13-2002 08:05 PM

We're testing in Titusville south of the Garden St. bridge. Rained out today. Going back out for the final run tomorrow before LOTO. Trucks leave on Monday...

jc

MarinePerformance 08-13-2002 08:07 PM

Hey Ferry!

Bruce is flying up on Sat. and coming back on Sun. just to see us run! How much of a slug are you?

jc

Ryan Beckley 08-13-2002 09:15 PM

I stated on another post before. It is the Jolly Motor Tencarra right? Are you still using the BPM drives?

MarinePerformance 08-13-2002 09:51 PM

Same boat - stripped and rerigged.

Highly modified BPM's. Gear ratio change, new prop shafts, bearings etc.
