Hero 3 black is all you need..., buy a charger or second battery however... it sucks down the power if you use the wifi. I really like the wifi option since you can turn it off/on.. review the video, etc all on your phone/tablet with the Go pro app.

I have the original and I HATE the wind noise it picks up. Have yall had better luck with the newer ones?
Id much rather here the engine than the wind in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yr1Z_F4tcc |
Just get the newest and best version. How can you go wrong with that?
:D Great products. |
TeamCeilis....Noise depends on the cover you use.. the waterproof cover=no wind noise

Here are just a few basics to help you decide among them:
The Hero3 WHITE edition ($200) is the entry level version, and offers recording up to 30 frames per second at 1080p, and 60 fps at 720p. The Hero3+ SILVER edition ($300) gets you up to 60 frames per second at 1080p and 120 fps at 720p. Those higher frame rates are much, much better if you record lots of fast action (e.g. wakeboarding) and want to slow down the footage for playback. The Hero3+ BLACK edition ($400) primarily adds 4K recording capability and includes a Wi-fi remote. (The White and Silver are Wi-fi capable, but don't include the remote, which can be purchased separately for $80.) Don't fall into the trap of thinking you need or want 4K. There are very few TVs currently available that can play such footage, and they're very expensive. Also, the 4K is only recorded at 15 frames per second, which will be choppy upon playback (like security surveillance camera footage). Finally, 4K is extremely demanding when it comes to editing the footage on a computer, so if your computer isn't very powerful or you don't have lots of memory (16GB at a minimum) in it, the computer will slow to a crawl, and probably crash repeatedly. Thus, it kind of boils down to (1) do you want a higher frame-rate recording capability (if yes, go with the Silver or Black) and (2) do you want to be able to control the camera with a Wi-fi remote (if yes, you might as well get the Black since it includes the remote, and it'll give you a few extra features such as better low-light performance that could prove useful to you at times). Sony, Garmin and others offer action cameras, but GoPro is definitely the market leader. I have one of the early GoPros, and I still find it to be a helluva camera. Hope this helps. |
if you ever attach it to your pecker use tape, not super glue. lol

Awesome products! We love our BLACK EDITION 3.
FYI you will eventually end up having few hundred more in accessories. Then you will want more cameras for more views. Then to hire a chopper to film another view. All in hopes to have enough time and imagination to edit the videos cool enough to upload on this site! :party-smiley-004: |

I think it says to enter promotional code under payment during checkout, to get the deal

I hope I don't upset anyone by posting.
These are a GREAT, much less expensive alternative. They work incredible. Many sold to OSO members. All good feedback!! Still have some! http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...2470-each.html |

Check this camera out. |
Yet another action camera to check out is the iON Air Pro. http://www.ioncamera.com/ Frankly, I hadn't heard of the brand until I saw them installed on lots of boats running this year in the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Series. (It turns out that iON is a sponsor of the series, so it's not just a coincidence that many teams were using them.) One thing I find interesting about them is their smaller form factor, although that comes with compromises (e.g. no LCD screen).

I got the I-kams from Gino, If I were you, I'd take him up on a pair. They are comfortable and take good video. Not to mention his price can't be beat.

Gino, that's a bunch of short sighted corporate bullchit. You were selling those cheap solely for the benefit of the members. Those are VIDEO CAMERAS!!! Sold to members who are going to turn around and use them to video boating and then post videos on the site. That benefits the members who buy them AND all the rest of the members who would inturn watch the videos here. IMO you were doing nothing but enriching the the OSO experience for members. Whoever decided to censor you was either drunk or stupid and as a paying member here for many years I apologize for their actions, I mean seriously WTF!!!

Went to BestBuy web page to purchase a hero3 black. It would not accept the promo code. Has anyone else bought one on line from them in the last two days and used the code??

I use a gopro 2 on my checkmate zt28 in NJ on the kill van kull
its great I put some of it on youtoob! my gopro advice for SOUND is youcan look up lots of options on youtube for a good remote gopro plug-in stereo mic that destroys regular gopro audio quality also youcan flip the goprocam to upside down mode and then 'hang' the cam instead of positioning it up right on the weak grabbing stock go pro clamps |
I didn't understand why the driver kept looking back over his the right side. I also didn't understand why the guy in the back was sitting on the sunpad, this video really reminded me of the Fountain guy at LOTTO, glad nothing happened.

buy the water proof case, knocks the wind noise out
|
Here's why a safety cord is not a bad idea either - mounted on scoop that had too much flex or vibration.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HITXdgwZxxg Second one has waterproof case - older silver Hero gopro - still a sh*t load of wind noise - needs a remote mic back by the engine - they don't make a remote for the silver Hero's as far as I know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K8xn4AHYJM |
