Anything south of Grove Harbor in Biscayne Bay down to the keys really has no speed restrictions. If the ocean is too rough you can still run around, that is the major advantage of grove harbor. If the ocean is rough in Lauderdale, you would have to leave port Everglades and tough it out in the ocean for a little while to haulover inlet and enter Biscayne bay. That is the trade off. Still feel the good points of the area way outway that.
I don't know, I just feel like the grove/south Miami area has just gotten crowded and difficult to get around lately. Not trashing that area at all, used to live there in the gables and had some great times hanging out in the grove.
Just can't beat the convenience of Ft Lauderdale.
We are comparing two of the best boating areas in the US, kinda like arguing over which supermodel gives the best BJ. Not sure you can go wrong either way.

I own a place in jupiter and boated there in the winter months. Then rented it out and went down to lauderdale for a few seasons. I now come to the west coast because the boating is simply awesome! Sanibel yacht club is prob the best u will find anywere! Check it out. Fmo club is a great organization also.

Great thread.
I'm trying to get my cc down there first week in January. I have a place in Naples so I am planning on going to the west coast. Does anyone offer any service like some of the places I've read in this thread on the west coast. Full service shop to work on outboards and handle the boat in and out of the water? I would rather not beach a truck down there. Concierge style. What's the must do events for the winter down there?????
Thanks.

I think we are going to come to the Gulf coast over Valentines Day instead of doing the Miami Boat Show.
Where would be the best place to be for
Warm
Good beach
Good restaurants
Warm
Don't really care about the boating (this time)
Did I say warm?
