My fathers boat with merc 700's and 190 hours (42 lightning). Two computers from burned out iac circuits, 3 iac motors, one nxt tranny, one #6, and it always sticks in gear (reverse).

We both do our own service and his has special motor oil and expensive drive oil.

So I say ilmor all the way.

We have found that Amsoil seems to work the best of the oils we have used. We have even seen a few HP increase while dyno testing. The Amsoil gear lube is also awesome, ran it all last yr and every time we sent the drive out for inspection Craig said it was excellent very clean and even wear.

I had heard that as well, and that the steel components are not made in the U.S. My 500's had 200 hrs. and everything looked perfect. I went with Comp Cams Ultra Arc, has anyone heard good or bad about them ?

425 hrs with zero issues. Planning to do springs and seals this fall. Never header issues that many have experienced I had researched and came to the conclusion of 300 for HP500s and 500 for 525s assuming no header issues
