My friend is the customer shops dream of and this builder screwed him out of a summer! August 2012 to September 2013 is not acceptable. Then to have blower surge and not idle properly on a 900hp 598 with 1071s. All new high dollar parts. The builder even had the entire boat and rigged it.

My friend the customer was SCARED to push this builder because of his attitude. But he was already sucked in by the builders previous reputation and was stuck. That's not a good feeling to have.

There's not another side to this story.

The builder accepted the job

The builder does not have a signed estimate

The builder dropped the ball and took to long to not even complete half of what was asked

The customer is getting screwed

The builder uses this tactic time and time again to force more customers then his shop can handle because he is greedy.
this sums it up^^^^^^

I understand completely and also would not be very happy . I also hope your relationship with this builder is not damaged beyond repair .

No, but I believe you are 100% done right now. We are on the outside looking in, no $ or emotional involvement. It's a clear view of your side, your feelings (anger, frustration)
Lets say this guy did $300 worth of work for arguments sake. So the bad part is over $100 and some jackass comments. Well jackass comments in NJ are free of charge, so we are left with $100 cash in screwing expenses (an education). I'm going to talk from 59 years experience right now. Pay him and never return. If you don't and it heats up...it can go to a bad place that you will regret ever being in. That's my advice.

too bad you're not in colombia, here someone would burn down the shop and pick your parts up the next day out of the ruins, it would cost about 50 bucks american. lol

Here's a price sheet from a shop in your town .

I see

Disassemble short block 125 x 2 = 250.00

Remove pistons from rods 50x2=100.00

That's $350.00 to strip 2 shortblocks and remove the pistons off the rods.

Its really not worth in my opinion, turning the whole thing into a mess. As most have suggested, go get your stuff, pay the bill, and move on.
