Staggered vs Standard?
#21
I was told once by a builder that staggering on boats 36 feet or so and shorter does not yield as good of results as on 38 an ups. I was thinking of staggering my 34 Scarab at one time and he told me not to bother. I realize its been done but is it worth it on boats below 36 feet or even have the same results?
Consider the "35" Fountain. '06 with 525's side by side : 90 to 94mph. '07 with 525's full staggered: 100 to 104mph
I know my staggered 09 35, with six drives spinning in stays hooked up and level through conditions that other, bigger, wave crushing brands can not.
All other advantages previously posted are true as well.

Does anyone have a measurement on the least amount of room needed for a full stagger would be? Transom to harmonic balancer of forward motor? . . . . thinkin about doing the new boat now

Another good old school example would be early to mid 80's 38' Scarab. There was the 377 raised deck that could be had with either a side by side or a staggered combination or comparison wise there was the 38' KV which was only side by side. Both hulls were the same.

Once you have owned a deep v with staggerred engines you won't ever want a side by side, way better rough water handling, way better balance probably a little faster easier to work on,it is serious upgrade in my book
