I have somewhat a funny story about Apache, its all good - around 1999 or so at the Miami Boatshow I decided to take my mom to - we walked around the whole show and the only thing my mother liked was some of the colors of the boats. Find that funny within itself since her son (me) has been in the boat business since 1991. Anyways it was later in the afternoon I think Friday and show traffic outside was very thin. I wanted to see Apache boats since they are one of my favorites especially during that timeframe.
We walked into the Apache display area and I think they had 3 boats there - about 6 people including Bob S. and 5 others had their backs to us , all sitting down at a table. The closer we got to one of the boats with my mother in tow - all of sudden all 6 at the table - at the exact sametime stood up and turned around looked at us thinking like - oh we better help out - a possible buyer - as all 6 turned around at the exact sametime to look at my mom and myself - they all 180 and sat right back down within 2 seconds - still to this day I laugh really hard about it - but the funniest part was my mother right after they 180 and sat back down - turns to me, asks softly in my ear - "do I really look that bad". I said no mom we just look that very poor. So then my mother asks me how do they know I could'nt write a check for their boats, I said because they are over 300,000 price tag, so then my mother says to me - Oh I do not blame them for sitting back down in such a hurry and then says right after that, but, are you really 100 % sure I do not look that bad ? You have know my mother. Thats my greatest Apache story and the closest I could ever own a brand new Apache. Still to this day I have never driven an Apache nor even rode in an Apache. Still can not believe that alone. |

Indy just one of those things you had to be there to think it was really funny. Anyways I will add, I hope Bob S. does look at this post because we both share a common friend - as a matter fact I just talked to that common friend yesterday for about on hour on the phone and one time before I was on the phone with him - Bob S. walked into his office and he had to let me go - Plus we share - both are Italian, plus share we have been in and out boats a billion times, not that any of this matters but I always wanted to talk to Bob in person but never had the chance to. Always really like the 41 and that stepped bottom 36. I know they only made very few of them.
Will add never even had a chance to work on Apache inwhich is one of my all time favorite brand of boats. Have worked on Cigs, to Wellcrafts but never a Apache. Thats a bummer itself and still can not believe that one. |
