So is Chief Powerboats a continuation of the Apache legacy?

Those look like amazing machines.

I see Apache Pete and Steve Nykamp are here....excellent! To my way of thinking, Allez Vite's lines, paint, power, pedigree and especially performance set a high standard for rough water offshore powerboats.

Apache Pete of course would know best. I'll go from memory and we will see how accurate that is. Allez Vite initially was rigged with 900 hp engines (Cobra?) and then new state of the art K drives (later to become Mercury Racing's famous VISSM). John Pompi rigged Allez Vite. Later Mercury Racing 1000's were installed. I believe Allez Vite was the first powerboat to use the K drive. And Apache Carl's War Hawk was next. Beautiful powerboats, great race history.

Allez Vite was built with C&G 850's. Several rebuilds by Randy, Carolina Racing and Tom Earhart got power over 900. Then went to Merc 1000 SC's for 1991 Key West and 1992 Coco Beach.

I've watched that Razz video more times than I can count. Even a turbine cat on flat water just doesn't seem as cool as that 41 putting 20ft of blue sky under it's hull.

Hey Ortho, sorry I missed this question. Here's my take on a proper answer. Mark McManus owns and builds/restores Apache Powerboats, Bobby Saccenti owns and builds Chief Powerboats.
