I would seriously look at St Pete if you are looking for waterfront. You can buy waterfront 3/2s for 350 to 500 if they have been remodeled. Deep water and nice older neighbor hoods near shopping.

Water quality is unbelievable. Looks like the Keys it's so clear.

Great diving and fishing only 10 to 20 miles offshore. Dove Saturday in 50 feet of water and could see the bottom from the boat.

You can boat and party in either downtown St Pete or Tampa. Rode up the river through Tampa on Sunday. Awesome ride, very scenic.

Go south to Clearwater beach or south to Bradenton beach.

Beaches blow away Naples and fort Myers.

Problem with the cape or punta it's a hike to the beach and the traffic is soo bad it will discourage you from going during season.

Boca grand and the Caloosahatcheee pollution problem is not going to get any better.

Lived in naples for 33 years , the Gulf looks like a sewage ditch from all the drainage not to mention constant Red Tide.

I agree. The water drainage/sewage could cause prices to drop. I go to FMB a decent amt for vacation. I was there this past April. I can not believe what happened to the water ! Sad ! People are PO'd bad about it.

Last year we kept the boat in Marco and the water was beautiful. We would run to FM sometimes for lunch and river water was disgusting looking. We would normally hang out at Keywadin when we wanted to go to the beach via boat.

Not sure where will go this winter, maybe try the East coast.
