nothing in the great lakes thats for sure. Your gonna have to go way south. Cumberland doesn't freeze but access will be tough. I say if your gonna pack up head all the way to FLA :D

Saint Clair river was still moving a couple weeks ago but again access will be notta . . . .

You could try the upper niagara river, the ice boom is in, so there should not be much ice.

Isle View Park in Tonawanda NY will be your best bet. The only problem is shore ice and debris build up in the ramp so you need to make sure it is clear before you make the trip. I sent you a PM. I can check it out for you just let me know when you are coming.

Went by Lake Erie in Cleveland yesterday and water was open. Not sure by ramp.

lol . . . i dunno man that sounds terrifying . . . . out in the cold . . .. knowing if you have an issue no ones gonna come get ya . . . . waters way to cold (and fast) to swim for it . . . oh an then theres the falls  :D

I never said it was a great idea! There are probably some crazy fishermen out there.

TUFFboat 01-16-2014 04:55 PM

I just need a 15 min test ride, don't even need to go fast.

Check the lower Niagara river in Lewiston NY just north of Niagara falls. I bet that is clear. The water moves pretty good there and thats where all the fishermen go. Not much room to turn around so if you have a bigger boat your gonna have to back down the hill to the water but its easy to do. Did it with my 38 top gun with no problems at all. You can probably call the "water street landing" restaurant in Lewiston ny and make sure its clear

I live bye Isle view, ramps are full of ice and debris from last weeks wind, I'll keep an eye open for ya, another option is there is a small ramp in North Tonawanda, not sure if the ice thawed that far back up the canal or not, I have to go out and could check on it, but you would need to get there today, cold snap starts tomorrow and it will for sure freeze, also docks are pulled so u may need someone to stay in the truck

Can't believe I am reading this stuff. Do not go boating around the WNY area this time of year. First Responders and the Coast Guard do not want to put their lives on the line for you. There are ice floes out there bigger than your 21' !!!
