Do you want to hit 70 or cruise at 70. Hp500s in my 99 that were bumped up a bit by smith power ran 74 WTFO on 26s. Cruised at 45-48 gps. 46 with 700s (KE 675s) ran 84. - 86 and cruised upper 60s at 4k with bmax 1.3 ratio and 25p 5 blade hydro motives. Trying to get these pigs to run with other smaller boats with equal power isn't going to happen cheap. It's been told to you several times - upgrade engines and then plan on upgrading drives. If you want a nice sport cruiser that runs mid 60s everyday loaded then you found your boat. If you want 75+ with creature comforts then go after a Donzi. Both good boats IMO. Another thought is going and cranking on 500+ hour engines may not be the best idea for longevity.

If you read what the OP posts closely, he wants the Donzi. "My truck is not big enough", "my storage is limited".
What this boils down to is Comfort vs Speed. Is the BT that more comfortable or is the Donzi that much faster?
I'm reading the OP wants speed while the girlfriend wants comfort.
I can almost hear her now, "SLOW DOWN".
If he gets the BT, I predict he will not even be on the water in 2015. The boat will be in the shop getting bigger engines and expensive drives trying to match the Donzi's speeds with it's existing motors.
The man wants to go fast.

The Donzi will be a big step up from my 311 as far as comfort speed and the ability to run in bigger water, plus it is more manageable when it comes to docking and towing. On the upside going with the 38 gives me a chance to upgrade to the 43 in a few years, maybe then I'll find something that makes us both happy.
I appriecate all the input and knowledge that you guys have thrown at me. I will hopefully be making up my mind after the Miami Boat Show.
