Our club has a 28’ pontoon boat that we use for race committee and I find that it’s very difficult to get the thing to maneuver at lower speeds, especially on a windy day. I think it’s largely because the bow doesn’t “bite” to help a turn and I’ve wondered about putting some kind of skeg on the front (or perhaps something that would rotate into the water like a leeboard since the skeg might interfere with the trailer). Do you have a suggestion to improve this?

Send a buddy up there with a trolling motor. Instant bow thruster.

Or mount a pair of 300's, one on each pontoon. That should make it real simple to point the bow any direction you want.

Yeah they don't steer so good, especially if there is a little wind. The flat sides act like a parachute!

They handle like a brick. Maneuver it as quickly as you are comfortable running into something.

I see these and ones with v8's in them on the parker river all the time, they still steer like crap and worse when theres a weekend warrior behind the wheel that wants to go fast
