Shop vac use #101
With all this talk of busted blocks and sub-zero weather, I could not stand it any longer. I opened the hatch and rechecked the coolant in the closed cooling system. Then I took some lines loose and using the shop vac, started sucking all the pink stuff out of the system.. Pulled from about every point I could think of. Then, I left a light in the bildge just in case. I feel better now.....

I was thinking maybe you stuck the shop vac in your bilge, and ran a long insulated hose to the garage to suck warm air into the boat .... :)
Your idea makes more sense... |
Kinda like locking the barn after the horse is gone. What is done is done and a few of us are in for a surprise next spring.
All these mild winters have set many of us up for a disapointment. |
If you put the hose in the exhaust side they work great for inflating water toys, small leaf blower works good too (-:

Pink RV antifreeze does not expand when it freezes.

drain the damn block, sheesh. |
I feel better anyway at this point. More cold a$$ weather headed this way. Good point Cole2534.... no worries with only air in the bolck.....

First year year mine has been in a heated building. Even with that said, I still winterized the blocks as I do every year. No one has ever regretted taking to many precautions. Too much at risk!
