At those speeds I think you should only have one person in the boat. If you are pushing for a 200 MPH run the risk is insane. Foot throttle and trim on the wheel. Or better yet with todays tec why do you even need a person in the boat? You can fly a plane so Im sure you can run a boat.

If these motors don't live long with all that HP do they really need a Kilo to reach max speed? You may be able to reach max at way less than a Kilo and shut it down. Turn it around let it cool down and go back. What is the amount of time per rules that you have before your return run? We are talking records only not long Gevity.

The amount of btu's created are insane, you could run a closed coolant system that used an air to water heat exchanger, but weight becomes an issue. You could run a extra water source with an electric pump, raise the pickup at a certain speed and get those last few mph but the water volume needed would be extremely heavy. I agree here is a way, just not an easy one.

Turbines are great, I think the expense and the fact that it would basically be 100% a new boat to do, limits any chance of it.

I would think that having too much power in a situation like this would be a good thing. You wouldn't have to be all strung out and trying to get that last MPH. Why would anyone ever want to restrict the HP when trying to break a speed record? I would think more HP would allow for more wetted surface because you wouldn't have to trim it to the moon to run the same speed with less HP.

Not sure who your referring too. OL didn't have lack of water at 160+ speeds, the pickup is in a different location than a the Fountain Kilo boat. With the 1650's, if they have lack of water psi, high engine temps, etc, then it will go into guardian.
