For all of you guys crying about hull length, maybe you should remember that this is a "Vee Bottom Record Attempt." I don't see a minimum length mentioned anywhere in there. And just so you know, there is a hydrodynamic formula that correlates hull length to speed - and a longer hull of the same beam with the same power will generally go faster. (This explains the 27' & 29' Fountain statement.) Besides, who would be stupid enough to try for that record in a 16' Bayliner with a 1650 Merc stuffed in it? Lord knows it would be light enough to break the sound barrier.

Longways:

Sorry AT man but length=weight=running surface. 27-29 ' fountain in your example is not quite 4' difference .
One has a bustle the other a beak so its all a wash.

Why do manufacturers build the exact same boat in different instances out of fiberglass, then kevlar, then epoxy?
Your math is off my friend.

Length does not dictate weight nor does it dictate speed.
Hydrodynamics, efficiency, and drag...
all multiplied by...
chines, steps, pads, etc. etc. all come into play.
--at levels to which only a few people in this sport really know anything about.

Oh yeah, and they also test these boats in wind tunnels too. As such, one can't leave off aerodynamics.

I was just going for a very, very basic example.

Those "stock" 1650s will easily make over 1700! Just ask the MTI camp. And I wouldn't call the canopied 43 a production boat.

When I post to this site i always picture my kids reading it. So when were busting each other it should never get personal or that sh!tty its usually about the boats. But there is always someone who has to act like they are writing on a bathroom wall.
OQ- he wasn't hating on you, his post had nothing to do about this- you made a comment earlier about 302s boat being horrible and that if he was trying to sell an OL he would have already sold it... All he was doing was giving you grap for giving that guy crap!

It's a run-what-you-brung folks. Who gives a flying flip about HP?

If you want to measure something, measure the weight and clank of the driver's and throttleman's balls.

JT knew when to say when in the Cigarette.

1. As someone already mentioned, no one knows if those 1550hp motors in the fountain were actually 1550's. OL is doing this would STOCK 1650 Mercury motors, no guessing games on what they're "actually running".
2. The fountain was purpose built vs. Outerlimits PRODUCTION 43sv.
3. When Reggie broke the record, was that "corrected for technological advancement". Laughable statement.
4. Most importantly, haters will be haters!!
Best post thus far .

I know and thats ok when we bash each others boats but when it gets sh!ty and personal like that, we have to keep this site cleaner than that. We all have kids reading this. Your always welcome to send a private msg. I can take it just as well as i give it and don't expect anyone not to do the same
