If these motors don't live long with all that HP do they really need a Kilo to reach max speed? You may be able to reach max at way less than a Kilo and shut it down. Turn it around let it cool down and go back. What is the amount of time per rules that you have before your return run? We are talking records only not long Gevity.

It's average speed over the kilo, not top speed achieved in a kilo

I agree here is a way, just not an easy one.
What about a hydralic adjustable water pick up. Adjusted by a temp sensor. Got to give the motor what is needs right? Probably already been done

We've done it before, still puts out tremendous heat.

Turbines are great, I think the expense and the fact that it would basically be 100% a new boat to do, limits any chance of it.

I would think more HP would allow for more wetted surface because you wouldn't have to trim it to the moon to run the same speed with less HP.
100% agreed, you can never have "too much" power.

Not sure who your referring too. OL didn't have lack of water at 160+ speeds, the pickup is in a different location than a the Fountain Kilo boat. With the 1650's, if they have lack of water psi, high engine temps, etc, then it will go into guardian.

They better set the bar pretty F-ing high, if not I might have to reset that bit@h over 200 mph with the Sweet 16!
