Default OPA Joins APBA

Seems like a positive step forward for domestic offshore powerboat racing, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...opa-joins-apba

Pretty cool. What does it take to be in the Hall of Champions (just curious really)

I didn't see that coming but think it is the right move for both Associations, Racers and Fans. A 3 year agreement will let everyone know if it is a good move or bad move. Hopefully this will bring out more boats and unify the sport a little more.

The way it used to be(times are different now) was high points spec cat, high points spec vee, and high points production with a 100 bucks(you have to buy it) you get a jacket and live in infamy

Two teams each year can go into the hall of Champions. One from the Spec Classes and one from the Bracket Classes. See the APBA rulebook for the qualifications.

It's a good thing to unite rather then divide!

I think its a win-win situation for everybody. More boats, more spectators and more sponsorship $$$ for the sport.

I love it !!!! After years of being separate orgs a common head of state (APBA) with no agenda and a 100 plus years of running power boat racing will unite offshore. With P1,OSS,OPA and possibly POPRA we can all run under the same rules and unite for a World Championship. Its up to the racer teams new and old to build these classes. Outstanding team work guys.

Is OPA using APBA rule book now or the one they have now?
