Shooters has a new owner and has re-opened........

Sadly it didn't mention any bikini contests! For those that were following the story, it went into foreclosure, then the bank was trying to sell it for like 10-12mm and then they were going to auction it..........finally sold for 6.9mm.

Fort Lauderdale's Shooters Waterfront is back in business after having its walls, floors, bars and kitchen torn down for a complete makeover seeking to revitalize the landmark restaurant.

Shooters Waterfront — formerly Shooters Waterfront Café — and what used to be a bar next door popular among Spring Breakers, Bootlegger, have retired their previous personas and taken on new, classier styles.

The waterfront restaurant reopened for dinner Monday welcoming guests for the first time following months-long renovations under new ownership. Bootlegger, now a private events venue called Events by Grateful Palate, reopened in December. Operators say they're booking four to five events per week at the facility, ranging from corporate events to birthday parties.

Many of Monday's visitors had been to Shooters at least once before. The restaurant has been around for more than 30 years. Silvya St-Cyr and her husband, Phil, first visited in the 1980s.

"This is much better than before," said Silvya St-Cyr, 63. "It's beautiful, elegant."

Once they started to let the Sunsation,s dock, the place went down hill. It is what led to their demise.

Hey at least they got to the dock, every time a Cig turned to go to the dock the passengers had to swim the rest of the way! :D Shooters had "sea tow" on speed dial......."Yeah, another Cig tried to come to the dock and we got a bobber!" :evilb:

I was in Lauderdale over the Holidays as well for a long weekend in January, both trips went by the construction going on at Shooters, place looked great and it was coming together... We went to BoKampers which is literally next door (other side of bridge) place was huge supposedly holds 800 plus people. My question is will these restaurants be able to produce the volume needed to keep the doors open, there are a few other restaurants in the one block radius as well. Only time will tell.....

I will be boating next week in Lauderdale doing a shake down on the boat before the poker run, may swing in for lunch if we find ourselves that far up the ditch!!

No.....

6.9mm purchase price + remodel costs + 200k a year in property taxes/insurance is a huge nut to pay by serving $12-20 meals.....my guess is they run it for the season as is, then re-invent themselves for next season. But the bikini contest days are over either way!

Nice get the bikini contest photos up ASAP!

They still have them at Gators and Sheppards over here. Tell them to get their act together.
