Budget boat for Lake Erie 22ft-29ft Suggestions?
 

I tried doing couple hours of searching for this but just ran across random threads. If you know a thread for me to read I would be willing to read through it.

22ft-29ft
50mph cruise 60mph Full. Something around here
$10,000-$15,000 Budget
Cuddy Cabin with comfortable place to sleep 2-4
1984 oldest year
Lake Erie out of Monroe, MI so looking for a boat that can handle 4' chop comfortably ( Most important to me besides speed)

So far I have been searching for these:
Formula 242ls
Formula 272ls
Baja
Wellcraft Nova (Alot of them seem like they need alot of work)
Mirage
Scarab (nothing really is in my pricerange)
Powerquest (nothing really is in my pricerange)

Just looking for other suggestions to add to my list

I know this is random but how does something like this compare to the boats I listed

Most of the boats on your list have a 24 degree hull. The 24 degree hull will be slower than a 21 or less hull, but it will handle the rough better. The Chaparral will likely have a 21-18 degree hull and will be rougher than the others. I am in the same situation as you. I would stick to a formula 242 or 272 with curved glass. They are stylish, 60 mph, and are always easy to sell when you move up.

I had a 1989 242 formula ss that I ran out of Harbor marine in monroe Michigan and that boat did awesome in that part of the lake I also had an 88 242 LS basically the same boat but also did great in the water and both were a solid 60 miles an hour

272 sr1 can be had at that price and is a great all around boat

The single 242's would do 60mph? What motors did you have in them?

This is what I have been looking for alot of them are in the 15g range which I know could go down depending on how their setup is. I would like one with new motors or rebuilt motors just so most likely know I will not have an issue with the motors and just confirm that the transom and stringers are good

Most 242s will run right about 60 with the Big block bravo package.

the 242 SS had a 454 330 horsepower with a Bravo and headers and that did 60 the 88 242 had a 454 Magnum 365 horse with a Bravo all stock and that did about the same can't quite remember what it was exactly but it was right around 60-61

Do all of the SS's have the 454 and bravo package?

All of them did from 1988 up that I know of...
