The shallow water thing has me confused. Unless your on a jack plate an outboard lower unit is very similar to an outdrive lower unit. You can trim an outdrive up in shallow water also. For the room I understand. Cleaning is about the same as both have vinyl and fiberglass to clean. The biggest difference in cleaning would be in the engine room and I get that.

The extra rear weight on a boat like mine causes a not so shallow draft. The paint on the skegs is all scuffed already with only a few trips so far. That is with the drives trimmed way up.

Unless you have a quad motor set up the weight saving alone is enough to help get up buy the island area.

I would say my draft at idle is 30" area and that is being nice. With a twin engine trimmed up outboard I am more in the 18" area and that is how a Lot of the island areas are.

I did in the late 90s. Hated them. So, no. Sorry.

And the #1 reason is time like Wildman stated...time! In this economy, production has been increased but the personnel hasn't. Companies are sqeezing every last drop out of their employees because all expenses have been reduced and there's nowhere else to go ...I see it everywhere. I work 6-7 days a week now just to get by, my wife is putting in 80 hour weeks (gawd). Most of my friends & family members are in the same situation. I'm boatless right now but I have to wonder how much time I'd really have in this new world to go boating.

Let me put "MY OPINION" in a complete different perspective on anything I like or want, whether it be a car, boat clothes or anything else, not that anyone should care and that's cool, but I don't care what anyone else likes or wants, thanks for all the helpful comments though, carry on with the normal OSO banter.

Dahm, I'll never be able to go on a FPC PR, guess I'll cross that off my bucket list.
