Wow that's pretty wierd to roll to the outside like that, I thought the back end would slide under the CG and put the boat on the sidethat is on the inside of the corner, not just roll over the top like that. Either way though, I never want to do that!

This is kind of a question and an aswer if I am right about this, but correct me if I am wrong.

I think what happens in most case's is the back end will slide about 5-10 feet and cetch. Now I am not familer with all boats but usualy you can correct at that point but you lose enormis amounts of speed. Now for the true racer you can ride it out. For instance on a Donzi you can do this "hop" about three times before you will completly lose controll. And miner adjustments can correct it in the middle of the turn. Now after the boat slides far enuf fast enuf it will cetch hard enuf to though the boat over to the out side. Now I am not a race or by far a boating expert but I think that is about how it happens.

Sean, That is pretty wild. Ive heard on the board you are quite an accomplished driver and Im sure you are. I would think at the piont that boat is in its a lot of luck that kept that boat up right. The drives are not even in the water.

I was surfing through the TV the other night and I swear I saw that boat in a Rap Video. I have no idea who it was or what song it was.

It is funny how all those video's are about all the money they have, yet all the cars, boats, girls are all barrowed.

BTW, in the video they never show who was driving the boat, I bet it wasn't one of the rappers!!;)

Are you gonna explain your photos? How did that thing not roll over? What caused it to go up on the starboard side? That is weird. Was Dick driving?

That is what is referred to as a controlled slide while you exit the boat gracefully and tactfully.....Driver, in this case Dick, has to drag his helmet through the water just enough so he doesn't drown himself to push the boat back on to its bottom.....

Was this spill number #1 with this boat?

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh that would be #1 also it was it's first race and its first time in the water except for 20 minutes the day before........Also I gotta get this dig in....we had to start 100 yards behind the fleet because they said Dick hadn't raced a boat since the dinosaurs roamed the earth and at the first turn it was Treadwell in the lead with us and the other Dick Simon F2 boat (Formula) side by side for second place...not bad for out of the box.......I do have an on board from Tread's boat that shows it in real time pretty incredible....Sean

1 1/2 years later in Key West, Stinson teams up with Treadwell. The boat crashes.

hmmm my guess is when you took the turn there was a bit of a roller going sideways, maybe even form the boat in front.:eek:

the boat you were in possibly caught an outside edge because of the rolling wave and threw it to the outside edge, but the boat luckily didnt hook ;) maybe even the edge it caugh wasnt even the outside edge maybe it was possbily an edge on the step hull?

Damn, I can't believe that I didn't take any flack for the controlled slide comment!!!!

The reality of it is that at no time from the second picture till it landed back on its bottom did anyone have control of that boat. But during that ride all I can remember is that it was an incredibily long couple of seconds until I hit the water and then everything come back to real time......Wouldn't really recommend trying it though.
