Actually RM, it's EFI.lol No carb thingy.
The 502 Mag is an excellent engine. Pretty tame piece that will run a LONG time. That year is a much later model with much better parts, like cool fuel, Mefi 3, serpentine accessories, etc. Tough to go wrong with it as long as it checks out.

They have pistons the size of Folgers coffee can's
Clogged/dirty injectors will cause the engine to lean out.
Stupid vent in VST tank cost $86 fora piece of rubber, and when it fails, it washes down #8, and thins out your engine oil.
They have a tendency to vapor lock witch is embarrassing when you idle threw a long channel in the heat, hit the sticks at the end and the engine stalls out. Skanks now leave your boat and get on a fountain
Top end is recommended around 500hrs I believe. They CAN blow head gaskets.
Heads weigh 75+ lbs, so do the exhaust manifolds.
Very reliable engine, and saying 502 mag has a catchy tune
You can lay on top of the engine in comfort (to a point) to work on impeller, plugs, wires.
