Wish I could be there. Brad and Jeff were both great guys. |
I understand all that but it could still be called the Brad Smith/Jeff Asbell Memorial Poker Run to benefit Brad's children. That's all.

Absolutely no disrespect to Jeff Asbell because he seemed like a d*mn good guy, but I think the poker run is named in Brad's honor because he directly influenced and worked with many performance boaters on the water. It's not to say he's more important, but rather his loss has more directly influenced those involved with the poker run and those in this sport/activity.
IMO, it's like Steve Ray Vaughn's helicopter crash or any situation like that. How often are Eric Claption's bandmates mentioned who passed in the same accident? His influence was more directly felt on the general public. The other victims are no less important. I've seen this come up before and I hope everyone realizes that a memorial as such certainly doesn't imply that Jeff's passing was any less tragic than Brad's. |
We have it marked on the calendar! Is there any recommendation for lodging?

I see your point for sure but I think this one in particular is to honor Brad and his family, Brad did a whole lot for the Grand lake community and spent a lot of nights and weekends to make sure most of us got to go boating. But I can promise you we will all be thinking about them both, I'll have my Brad and Jeff Memorial shirt on over the coarse of the weekend. I would love to see a fun run at Jeff's home lake on LOTO in his honor to represent some sort of children's charity, he was a softy when it came to kids ! he was just a good dude!
