Most of the larger sailboats I see on the Great Lakes are traveling under power even in favorable wind conditions. I never understood that.

Lazy. It's work to pull on those ropes.

Once had a debate with a friend about the fuel burn and pollution factor of big power in go-fast boats. I politely pointed out the total number (in millions) of how many vessels are registered in this country.
Guessing the percentage of performance boats is well under 1%.
