My PowerQuest is.

The question should be is your deck glassed? Most are bonded (glue or adhesive ) with various forms of fasteners
|
My Fountain is bonded/glassed together. My Formula was glued and screwed. It rattled the deck joint so bad, it started shearing off the rubrail screws. I'd find loose rubrail screws, and try to tighten, but just spun. Backed them out, Oh, they sheared off. Nice. Ended up replacing ALL the rubrail screws with the next larger size, injected some plexus like adhesive in the joint, and rescrewed. Typical bayliner ****t. Probably not an issue if you stay out of big water.

now now, lets not bad rap those bayliners,i am the current high bidder on one of those fine ships.

My Wellcraft is glued with 5200 and it has screws through a strip of wood that only attaches the rub rail, Luckily it tops out at 55 lol

Yep. This is a 22' Classic with 525 that runs 80s. The hull is solid glass and is 1/2" thick on the upper sides. The deck is balsa cored chopper gunned on the bottom. It looks pretty thick at the seam where the screws are. Does this look like cheap construction?
always thought Donzi was 100% hand laid, just surprised to see chopped glass thats all. |
My 1976 magnum 27' sport (deck/ hull joint) was only glassed in one compartment (foward of the cabin) the rest of this shoe box seam was
merely caulked and screwed together at the rub-rail...Although it took me awhile, I glassed the entire deck to hull with epoxy resin and 17 oz. double bias cloth (kyntex)..............We all know too well what can happen if you stuff the nose!!! |
The 92 Team Warlock I own is bolted and not glassed. Someone here stated they weren't bonded either back then. Rub rail is off and I can't find any signs of glue seeping out anywhere.. Since it's tore down to a bare hull, I've considered popping it to make the whole rebuild go much quicker. Then using epoxy and glass when it goes back together.
The 96 Ultimate Warlock I have is matted together with no bolts used. So guessing they switched practice when Ultimate came on board. |
