A. it would suck going long distances in a go fast at slow speeds
B. wrong boat for the job, lack of shade/amenities would make the trip miserable
C. the loop is an accomplishment but many parts aren't real scenic/exciting

A dealer in my area has started selling Ranger Tugs- the 31 with the collapsible flybridge looks like a lot of boat for the money!

Idk. That 31 tug looks pretty sweet. I would def consider that for my loop boat. I think it would be fun to try to set a record in a go fast, but that's a long trip no matter how you look at it and comfort is going to be important, not to mention good fuel economy.

My ideal boat to run the loop would be a 30 cig T/S Mistique w/ twin 496s. I can understand the trawler but not at my age yet... I would rather roll fast and rough it some.

I think I would take this with a canopy over the rear deck and hammocks rigged under the canopy...

Here is a link to a thread where a similar question was asked last November. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...-boats-do.html In post # 9, I cover some of my experiences in doing 90 % of the loop in various go fast boats.
