That's hysterical! I moved my boat from Sacandaga 5 years ago because I got sick of trees floating in the middle of the lake when the water is high, or watching out for sand bars when the water is low, or not launching until mid-June because of all the chit in the water, or hauling out before Labor Day because NYS opened the dam and there's not enough water to boat in.
Lake George has speed and noise limits because it's one of the most popular lakes in the northeast. Check the tourist stats. I go 80 every weekend and have never gotten a ticket. Like everything else, you just have to use your head. |
It isnt how fast you go, its when and where you go fast. For example, our event is a closed course. So no speed or noise limit. A poker run will use all 32 miles of lake, cant shut down the whole lake for one event, and cant have boats running 100+ through the narrows where kids are tubing. The first run was a failure and ticketed because the promoter (NOT Norm, Jason or Rick) did NOT get permits, did not TRY to get permits, and hoped everything would be fine,
ANYWAY. Back on Topic |
Chris, you've slaughtered this thread.

I started the thread w/ the hopes of learning more the event, promoting it & seeing how many OSO'rs participate. Now I understand why they refer to this site as OS Opera. YIKES!!

I really like LG but I'm a stubborn old man. I believe that every body of water in NYS belongs to the people that lives in NYS. I had many fun filled days on LG many years ago but when the permit system went into effect it pissed me off. I paid one time to use my boat on the lake and that was it. As much as I would like to tow up there I won't. I don't know how they can get away with the permit system and I really don't care. I'll stay on my pond where the water is free..

What?!! I wasn't saying anything more. I was talking about how good the run was and how sharp those zebras are (jokingly) and you and green eyes started back in. But whatever.
Hope all is well Chris. |
I'll be there but obviously as a spectator. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Let me know if there is anything I can help with Johnny.
