When I had my Monterey 218, I used this site extensively learning about boats and what kind of boat I wanted to move toward.

Wear your jacket and lanyard and you'll be set OP. Several of us sunny owners started in a Crownie. They are great boats! However, the bug bites hard and quick so save your dollars!!!

My bud has a 22' Crownline with a ProCharged 454 Mag and -2 Imco shorty . The elitist attitude reminds me of a couple ex friends that would not ride with me because I ride a Raider not a HARLEY .........

Is it possible to remove the hook? When is it even worth doing
GPS? That seems more speedo numbers which are usually 5 MPH or so off at WOT.
The main issue with that boat is that prior to 1998 Crownline did not use treated wood in the construction of their boats. So you will have to keep a close eye on the floor, bulkheads, stringers, etc. for rot. In 1998 they went to XL Marine Plywood that carried a lifetime warranty against rot. I had a 1999 266 open bow with the 7.4 MPI/Bravo III and it would run 48 - 50 MPH GPS. It was a great boat but they have a ton of hook built into the hull so they will never be speed demons.

A close friend of mine had a crownline 266 ltd for several years. 383 merc with a bravo3/ It took a lot of styling cues from offshore, dropout bolsters etc. He bought it new at a boatshow. Took it out in snotty conditions the first weekend he had it and beat the hell out of it. It got the standard stress/gel cracks in the usual spot but that was it, never got anymore and they never got worse. He ran the hell out of that boat for years and it was trouble free. Nicely laid out and a comfortable boat. But it was not a true offshore boat and didnt handle as such. Excellent boat for running around, hanging out and bar hopping but if you want to emulate the apache videos its the wrong boat. Any boat that gets you out on the water with a smile on your face is the right boat at the time.
