You will find zddp in oils that will not see a cat convertor, right now that means race oils and better motorcycle oils like M1 V-twin 20/50 or their 4T 10/40 motorcycle oil.

Several years back Mobil wrote a letter to a user here confirming that the V-Twin was their oil most suited for HP marine use.

Hillbilly logic dictates if it will protect a 14 liter Detroit making over 1200 ft pounds of torque, it should protect the smaller ones as well.... 2500 HD Chevy with an 8.1--I do let her warm up a little when it is below freezing.....LOL!

RP is a marketing company that contracts a blender to make their products and add a dye. I will stick with ExxonMobil R&D's Mobil 1 products

It's very hard to argue with Rotella T though. It's economical and easy to find, as well as an excellent oil.

Hey, you can't blame a guy trying to pay the bills. Personally, Mobil 1. I use Valvoline dino oil to break in my engines though.

I have had V-6's and V-8's since 1982. I have had 2 boats the entire time, and 3 the last 5 years. I have used:
Rotella 15W-40.
Delo 15W-40.
Pennzoil 10W-40.
Last 10 years Mercruiser 25W-40 dino until semi-syn 25W-40 became available. I always change at the recommended intervals or before. Result? No oil related failures of any kind. Ever. So does it really matter as long as its a quality oil???? :eureka:

What is your thoughts on Brad Penn? I have been using Sae 40 with no issues. I pay a fortune for it!! If Rotella works just as well, I would rather use the extra cash for more fuel!!

That is a crock. Where did you ever hear such a thing? They are by no means a marketing company. All synthetic oils are a base oil, which there are only but a few companies that produce the base oil.........Mobil is of course one. The additives are than purchased from a company, most use lubrizoil (spelling?), and mixed together like cool aid. In most cases it's the same for all the oil. Royal Purple buys the additives THEY request and together with much of their own products they produce their oil. Royal Purple began their company as an industrial supplier and trouble shooter. If you had a lubrication issue they are called upon to find a cure. Their biggest customer was and still is Mobil/Exxon. The oil was just an offshoot of this highly successful company. It was started by 3 PHD chemist and recently sold to Calumet Industries which is a publicly traded company on Wall Street. Marketing company, geeeeeez give me a break.
