If you put the lights in that location you're going to have a lot of dead spots, your drives are going to contain the light right in the center. Example ( drive V V drive ) As the light disperses in the water it will create a V pattern. What you need to do if you want full range of the lighting is you need to put one over each trim tab and one in the center to make sure the light is able to overlap each other to give you solid blue in the water. Example ( V drive V drive V ).

^^^^ thats a good point, I think it could disperse better the lower its mounted with 2 lights.
3 lights is an option too but I wanna put the motors back while I have some time off and that would hold me up. |

Icdedppl I mounted mine in the same place, I know the light disbursement will be a little off, but that was the best spot for me on my transom.

Both areas would be sweet......from what I remember it would have been very difficult for me to put them near the tabs. Have you checked?

I prolly sound like a real fun-hater, but please do not have them on while running, just at the docks. I do allot of night time boating and these LED's can really throw your senses off. Blue lights are to indicate the end of a dock. Too much light makes it more difficult to find the nav or stern lights to figure out direction of travel. While on the move, a good red/green bow and a white stern is all you need to keep yourself and others safe.
That all said, they look really cool at the dock to show off the outdrives, especially when you have those big ol props hanging off the back! |
Update:
Finally got in some clear water and was pleasantly surprised how bright they are.
Location is a good spot Seablaze: http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s6/...10987448-4.jpg http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s7/...96677659-4.jpg |
