but I`m open to ideas..

I am going to say mount them underwater! Sorry I had to say it because I know that would be your response if someone else asked. That being said, I think where you are wanting to put them looks good!

That looks like a good spot, Easily accessible from the inside (some what :) ) is that your boat ?? Those Props look bigger than my Truck :) Lol.. Nice setup...

Being it's a cig you should set up some dry ice to go with that, have a little smoke on the water:cool-smiley-027:

A little different with the outboards as they are closer. This Is dads scarab 302

The lights are actually just outside the motors. They aren't sitting right as steering and tie bar not on yet.

That looks like the best spot to me if you can get lower that will be better but where you have them is good, i think on the outside of the drives won't be deep enough in the water. What lights are you installing? you can always add some lights on the outside of the drives later to fill in depending on what you are installing.

phragle 04-19-2014 10:16 PM

Why not both spots??? Go big or go home....

Crude Intentions 04-19-2014 10:27 PM

Dan just get the drain plug led. No holes to drill. Lol

If you put the lights in that location you're going to have a lot of dead spots, your drives are going to contain the light right in the center. Example ( drive V V drive ) As the light disperses in the water it will create a V pattern. What you need to do if you want full range of the lighting is you need to put one over each trim tab and one in the center to make sure the light is able to overlap each other to give you solid blue in the water. Example ( V drive V drive V ).

^^^^ thats a good point, I think it could disperse better the lower its mounted with 2 lights.
3 lights is an option too but I wanna put the motors back while I have some time off and that would hold me up.

Icdedppl I mounted mine in the same place, I know the light disbursement will be a little off, but that was the best spot for me on my transom.

Both areas would be sweet......from what I remember it would have been very difficult for me to put them near the tabs. Have you checked?

I prolly sound like a real fun-hater, but please do not have them on while running, just at the docks. I do allot of night time boating and these LED's can really throw your senses off. Blue lights are to indicate the end of a dock. Too much light makes it more difficult to find the nav or stern lights to figure out direction of travel. While on the move, a good red/green bow and a white stern is all you need to keep yourself and others safe.

That all said, they look really cool at the dock to show off the outdrives, especially when you have those big ol props hanging off the back!
