How about that there are good guys out there! You did the right thing, and ias much as I wanna agree with covering your "expenses" I have to say not unless it was a Ebay buy, then I'd keep the Ebay expenses its the only way to keep Ebay half legit, remember life is about the people we meet and the company we keep, sounds like u guys had a good afternoon, and lunch, also sounds like he really had something come up, maybe when its all done he will be back......

you took your time to water test it with them ,they agree to buy the boat and give a 2000 dollar deposit and the next day they cant complete the deal.im sorry but you deserve something for your time and the boat ride.atleast they did not string you along for weeks and then back out.if it were me id keep whatever you spent on gas and any other expense you had and send the rest back.if i was the one who gave the 2000 and then backed out i would be happy to get 1500 or so back and imo that is very fair.you never know, maybe in a week or two he will call you to complete the deal, then you could give him credit for the money held back.

I'll bet it's not over. My money is on the buyer who backed out insisting he take something for his trouble, time and fuel.

This is like the complete opposite of every other story I hear on here. If this guy sends some $ back to pay the exspense encurred showing the boat I say we all chip in and send both party's a fruit basket for renewing our faith in humanity!!

As of right now the OP holds the 2014 offshore honesty award in my eyes!!

Dan!! Next time don't tell others that it SOLD. Just tell them that it is for sale but you have a deposit on it. You could have had 1 or 2 backup offers.....now you don't.

Saturday it was sold and Monday it was available.... my guess is that neither of those interested bought anything Saturday night or on Sunday. If those leads were strong on Saturday they should still be primed to buy your gun on Monday....

Suppose to meet one of the guys in havasu
But who knows and I'm not going to worry about it

look at it this way, he paid you 2k to take it off the market. What's to say that you call those 2 people that called back and they've already bought something else. A deposit should be non refundable.
