I suggest they switch to some turbines, Arnesons, and add a rudder and lets find out! :D

Is that also a Guinness record ?

stimleck 04-29-2014 10:50 AM

would there be a material difference in the speed using the same 1650's and Arnesons?

Amazing number congrats to the OL team and friends. Shows what they are doing right to have so many people help make this run possible. One customers boat, another customers engines, a customer supporting the event, and another customer driving. This is why OL is still in business.

They did this with production Merc stock power and the boat was on rails.

Well done.

Oh and dont forget the record for the SV29. It's been a great week for OL and friends.

Mike

In theory I would think a shaft driven surface drive and a rudder system (like they use in many of the faster cats) has the potential for less drag, weight, with more speed, and increased reliability. The down side to this is these systems aren't exactly ideal for pleasure use and I don't believe OL has used such a system with their vee's. Basically it would be a purpose built race machine and I can't imagine there are too many customers looking to order something like this.

jvcobra 04-29-2014 11:28 AM

Congrats! Where the youtube video?

Tom A. 04-29-2014 11:31 AM

Awesome!

paintman 04-29-2014 11:31 AM

Sounds unusual to have "stock merc power" and 1650 hp in the same sentence

Boy has it comes a long way

Congrats Guys!

Michael1 04-29-2014 12:12 PM

Impressive for any boat, but especially a V-hull. It looks like they average the two runs for the final speed.

Congratulations!

Michael

Fenderjack 04-29-2014 12:14 PM

When they had the boat at PBC for the shootout it was rigged with 1350's and #6's.

Keith Atlanta 04-29-2014 01:05 PM

What does a 1350/1650 weigh?
