This thread is titled "Reggie speaks out" and was intended to show that Reggie is a class act by being supportive of OL breaking the record, which he 100% was.
I don't own a Fountain and probably never will. But Reggie has done a TON for this sport and is still contributing.
He could have handled this the total opposite.

I don't think fountain went under because of the boats they were building. Fountain changes hands then goes under. Im blaming it on bad business. Fountain wasn't the only name that went down with the sinking ship. Id compare the 42 to a top gun. Very minimal changes since inception. If it ain't broke, don't fix it til its broke.

The reason I was told was that Fountain raised their prices to Outerlimits/Cigarette/Nortech/etc levels due to their performance level but without improving the fit/finish quality of the boats to the others level and it really hurt Fountain sales. For what it's worth, I was told this by the owner of the once largest Fountain dealer in the U.S. in person.

I'm pretty sure they still sell more used Fountains than anyone else so I don't see how it's relevant. I was told to look at bilges of the other boats to see the difference in gelcoat/paint work and he was right.

Fountain did make big strides in their interiors the last few years of production.

He told the truth. Look at the glass finish work in these two boat's bilges:
