The sad part about this thread is someone started it by asking a legit question based on their observations about why so many DCB's are for sale (personally I didn't really notice that there was or wasn't a spike nor have I compared it to other brands for sale) & it's gotten all sorts of sideways over which Cat is better than the other, faster, attention to detail, more sea worthy etc all of which are worth discussing IF the thread subject was "How do DCB's, Skaters & MTI's Compare" or something of that nature.

IMO the only fact mentioned in this thread is the fact that MY 2007 Skater 30 w/ ILMOR 710's & INDY drives is in fact for sale & I'd like to thank Daddy for that mention. You may find a link to my classified below!

:hijack:

With that said lets get back on subject or just move on if there's not really anything of substance that supports the thread subject!! I read the thread b/c I thought it was an interesting observation & was seeking answers as to why. Unfortunately I've learned allot about nothing related to the thread subject.

I agree with Nascat.

I agree with Nascat also. There are pro's and con's for all models. It is great to have so many builders to choose from! What ever floats your boat!

I am not saying that Skaters are not great boats, they are. I have driven many and enjoy them very much. Are they faster then a DCB HP to HP yea. Does a DCB have its strengths also, yes. Especially if you boat on inland waters which is what they were designed for. DCB's are not marketed as, nor am I saying, they are the fastest, or best built, or nicest boat around. Listen, for most people, there is always someone else faster and with a nicer boat. They simply do what they do very well, no more, no less.

I first responded to this thread simply pointing out that some DCB's that were for sale have sold at what I believe is a pretty good price from a value retention perspective. The value of used well optioned DCB's seem to have increased this year which is great for DCB owners.

So many people want to get into a pissing match and create drama by making comments like training wheels, windshield design and how a boater uses/enjoys their boat. That said we enjoy the attention to detail and performance DCB places in the construction of their boats. I could have bought a Skater but for now this boat fits the bill for me. Additionally, for my family we do most of our boating on Colorado river and lakes where beaching our boat is commonplace and we prefer the ease of a capsule boat vs a windshield boat. It is a matter of preference, why do people have to get personal by launching salvos and pick apart what turns one person on vs another.

I'd love the market to get flooded, maybe one day the prices will get to a point I could have one ;) Keep selling people!

I did. Could not have bought a boat from a better guy and boat owner. John took great pride in ownership and maintenance/ care was what you would expect from an enthusiast.

Skaters, MTI's are awesome performance machines. BTW 55 Skaters for sale in the classifieds. If you want to be top dawg, go with one of these. If you enjoy boating on the lake go with the DCB. Nice rigging and ergonomics. More Space for people and items because of the cabin. A place to get out of bad weather in the cabin. We get caught out in Lake Cumberland in showers all the time and it is nice for my wife and kids to be able to get out of the rain. Attention to detail is second to none Eddie Young told me that the rigging and construction of my boat was the nicest he had ever worked on. My boat is 13 years old and not one check or craze line, no creeks or rattles. The DCB's are much heavier than the Skaters. Hledin is a master of building things light and strong. But with the DCB's there is less of a risk of water intrusion into coring as the boat ages. Don't really hear of any DCB's needing to go to the shop to replace their fuel tanks... The training wheels make the boat much more maneuverable and fun at lower speed which most of us who boat on crowded inland lakes contend with. The true tunnels do not feel great until they start packing air which can be a speed which is tough to run at safely with SeaDoos pontoons, etc.. out in full force. The DCB is a fun boat, that is easy to live with, not slow, and built very well. The Skaters and MTI's are the fastest race machines on the planet and can be run on the ocean. I can not afford and don[t want to mess with a boat that needs a tilt trailer or wide load permits and no cabin. DCB owners can enjoy their time on the water and wave to the very few boats that can pass them.

Why are you posting a thread that is full of logic? This is OSO, and replies should be limited to personal opinion and brand loyalty only. If you do it again I will have to report you to a moderator. :D

I have the 1989 "econo family truckster model" 25' Talon with outboards. It's no Skater (LOL) but it will run side buy side with a 24 Skater or 25 Motion with equal power. I can run in 2 to 3s' anything bigger my friends in their Skater and Motion can handle the 3's and walk on me. Twin 280s 114 to 116 mph, twin 260s 110 mph and twin hopped up 225 promaxes 100+ mph propped for speed. You can do it on a budget Cap. Get you one they are all a blast!!
