Don't know what you are worried about, I have HP500's in what I think people are now calling a 25-26 foot boat with a 8'6" beam.:evilb:

I guess I'm concerned about possible hull cracking in the future from too much torque or so that's what the negative nancy's said. I don't believe it will happen, but they did put the bug in my head now. We love the boat, but I was just concerned if I should keep my eye on anything? Guess I'm looking for reassurance from you all that I'm over thinking it and those negative nancy's are idiots. :angry-smiley-038:

The negative nancys are idiots. One of the LAST things I would worry about with a 2004 hull with mild power is the hull cracking. Your drives would go WAY before your hull if its torque you are worried about. I had a 29 PQ with 454s, the guy across from me at the marina had the same but with 502s...Powerquest is a solid-built boat...you will be fine.

dereknkathy 05-08-2014 06:28 AM

as sommerflies said, it's a PQ. not a renken, not an early 80's bayliner. also, an engine RATED for around 500 ft/lb of torque still only HAS as much torque as you ask it to give you. sounds like you ask those 496's for small block torque mosta the time. if you try hard enough you can break anything no matter how well built. i don't think you are trying that hard...

Great, thank you guys for helping to put my mind at ease. There's always those few people that have to try and find the negative in everything even if they have to make up stories. I don't get those people. :angry-smiley-038:

Your boat is junk: I'll give ya like hundred bucks for it. It's about to break itself anyway, I'm doing you a favor.

Thanks for validating my point that there's always one idiot! :lolhit:
