need damaged ssm#6 low case

Looking for a damage ssm#6 lower I slung a blade and cut cavitation plate off. Need a drive I can cut the plate off of and have Wilson weld on.

dereknkathy 05-10-2014 01:20 AM

could probably do as well cutting cav plate of most any drive and fitting the piece in.

Amazing how much damage a blade causes when to let's go. I saw the pictures of you drive that blade completely tore the cavitation plate in two.

Blade flew about 200 feet in the air and the plate went skipping across the water and shuck the boat like it was coming apart

My source has been revealed. Lucky that blade did not catch the other prop and drive on the way out. I wonder if the prop shaft is bent or any other damage to the internals. I would have all of the specs checked before that drive goes back together.

It really is surprising it didn't hit the other prop considering that the tips of the props are less than 3/4" away from each other. We are going to give both of them a thorough once over.
Eddie

Coolerman 05-11-2014 02:20 PM

Sure they didn't hit something? It might an illusion, but it looks like a chunk missing from the other skeg...... That is some pretty good carnage tho!!

Young Performance 05-11-2014 04:01 PM

That one was there already I believe.

SummerObsession 05-11-2014 09:11 PM

Herrings? I couldn't quite make it out on the prop.

We pitched a blade off of a 388. It didn't do quite the damage yours did, but it did strike the bottom of the cavitation plate and bend the prop shaft quite a bit.

You don't need it for the prop, but you will need it for where the drunk idiot with a pontoon boat ran into the side.

You have some real deal motors in that thing. When you hit the throttles it sounded like the world was coming to an end. I thought you blew a drive up......sucks you broke.

SummerObsession 05-12-2014 03:56 PM

Get a set of Merc. props rated for your HP, and you will likely have less problems. Been there, but luckily it was caught as a crack before it became a flying blade!!

Here is a video from a few years ago at LOTO. I've since changed a few things on the engines.

It was like 2 am and I was just delirious by that time. I had been going and going and was on fumes. I was so close to hearing them run in the boat. They had already been dynoed, but I wanted to have them running in the boat. I thought I would have a little fun and that seemed like a good idea at the time.Lol
