center state exchange

anyone had dealings with center state engine exchange? Seems like every place I look for a replacement engine has several bad reviews. Haven't found any for center state though.

BlueBayou2 09-04-2015 09:27 AM

Sorry to reply so late, ordered 2 engines in March, received damaged by the carrier mid June, sent back, they said not damaged that bad, sent them back to us, then sent us new oil pans to replace the damaged ones, put everything together fired up on blocks before install, had bottom end knock in one, broken valve lifter in the other, both taken apart, re-crated and sent back, the second one will be leaving to go back today. Will keep you posted as to how this all turns out. I fully understand with a re-man how things can fail, I am waiting to see how they fix it

chekmark 09-04-2015 09:57 AM

Wow! That's scary. Hope it works out for you.

BlueBayou2 09-04-2015 10:04 AM

who did you use, if anyone

chekmark 09-04-2015 11:00 AM

No one yet. In process of building new pole barn. Planning on working on over the winter. However, center state was probably going to be who I used. Now, not so sure!

BlueBayou2 09-04-2015 11:32 AM

I will keep you posted as to how they handle it. I am not speaking badly of them so far, but the next couple of weeks will be the tell all.

chekmark 09-04-2015 12:34 PM

Thx. Will be curious as to how they handle this.

BlueBayou2 10-11-2015 03:49 PM

well the engines both had bad cams, they fixed them, I got them back last Friday the 2nd, had them marinized and Fired up Friday the 9th, Valve covers leaking, but the engines sound healthy this time, they say they will cover everything I had to do in the middle, set up, tear down, palletize and crate and send them back. while it put a hurtin on my customer and myself, **** happens, and they seem to uphold their end, will let you know when i get the check.

I still think, had these been Chevy's they would have run right from the beginning, but i am biased.

Griff 10-11-2015 06:56 PM

I would NEVER buy engines from one of the mass production rebuilders.

bluebell58 02-24-2016 01:31 PM

I've bought the Chevy based stuff from them for a couple years now. So far no complaints. I've always dealt with Tony who seems very knowledgable. Beats paying Merc prices.

Four Winns Guy 03-05-2017 07:15 AM

I've alway used Center State Engine.

Ive used them for years now and never had any issues with their new or reman engines. Great price on both.

Four Winns Guy 03-05-2017 08:00 AM

Ive been buying from them for years now with no issues. Good prices on both new and reman Engines.

BlueBayou2 03-05-2017 08:11 AM

We ran them on blocks, after everything else, first trip out the right hand engine rear main seal started leaking, I am assuming a left hand seal was put in on the reman. Let's say it is just me, but after everything that happened, I won't go back to them.

Four Winns Guy 03-05-2017 12:16 PM

As i said no issues and have been using them for years now.

Yes, you said that 3 times. You just joined this site, have 3 posts, and all state how happy you are. Seems to me you have something to do with the builder.

BUP 03-05-2017 01:06 PM

A lot of rec mass production boat owners do not know of any sort of engine problems until 1, the engine does not start anymore 2nd the engines noise becomes so loud that they get online and ask is this normal posting a youtube vid, 3 rd if their bilge fills up with water, 4 th is their bilge fills up with oil. 5. if something is smoking and just so happen to notice it or a very loud warning horn going off but most ignore the very loud warning horn anyways.

Nope. They helped me out plenty since I started doing business with them. I just hate to see places like this getting bashed when they've
help people like me when I was in a jam. Didn't even charge me when it really was my fault.

oldmanboater 03-17-2017 03:57 PM

Ive been using Center State Engine for almost 30 years now. Never had any problems.

BlueBayou2 03-17-2017 04:38 PM

Sorry, yes we recieved a check for 1/3 of the shop charges, it was the total the warranty would pay on them. So they paid everything that contractually could be paid.

Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings, the question was asked if anyone had a problem with them Center State, I did, so I spoke up.

I hope everyone else that gets products from them gets good products, sounds like they do.

Four Winns Guy 05-22-2017 06:20 PM

Just installed 3 Gen VI 502's in a Triple Fountain from them. Great price on the Engines and these things run SWEET!

underpsi68 05-22-2017 06:48 PM

Five posts on this site and all are about how great Center State Exchange is. I think members can read into your posts.

So you and oldmanboater both register in march 17 to praise a company a lot of people have had issues with? Seems legit, where can everyone claim their free rides on your boat?

Four Winns Guy 05-22-2017 08:53 PM

You people need a life!
