I don't know who I'm worried about the most on LOTO now, some dumb boater or a stupid untrained WP officer without any common sense that legally carries a gun, what a fiasco.

All of these will come into play over the course of the civil trial. Why keep pointing the finger at everyone else? It was the stupid ass cop that killed the kid and almost himself. Even his colleagues are throwing him under the bus. If he was properly trained or gave a **** he could have idled 200' away and done things correctly.
He didn't care. He is the law and he makes the rules except this time he did what he wanted and it bit him in the ass. I hope he pays and it haunts him. I HATE cops like this.

It just gets worse and worse. Im not surprised at all, but a bunch of earlier commenters on this thread were falling all over themselves to excuse the cops of any wrongdoing. Besides what happened on the night, its a travesty of justice that so many relevant details of the case (which show the cop's actions in a negative light) were swept under the rug during the inquest.

Regarding that news link HiPerf360 posted, it states "A memory card was missing from Piercy's boat on May 31, meaning there is no concrete proof of how Ellingson fell off the boat." Anybody know what that mean? Are we talking memory card from a camera that was supposed to be filming on the boat?

Its funny how this total fukkup can be called an "accident" by authorities when they critique themselves, yet if any one of us got into a miner traffic "accident" it is referred to as a crash by the same people which leads to a citation. No fukking accountability and the attempted cover up makes me nauseous. If it was any one of us not in uniform we would have been charged with something like negligent homicide.

I twisted NOTHING. You fail to understand the standards, burdens, and differences between civil negligence (proponderance of evidence), and criminal negligence (beyond a reasonable doubt). The inquest was the criminal aspect, the civil proceedings haven't been completed. There are literally hundreds of cases every year where criminal charges don't result in a conviction, and civil process awards damages, both punitive and compensatory.
The "in uniform" has little to do with the results here, other than it gave him authority to question and detain.
