Yes, that's what the ticket said. Even the judge couldn't believe it ran 97 MPH, so the charges were dropped.

He must have one hell of a truck to pull that thing 97.... Or the boat has those fancy 454 corvette engines, like the guy at the gas stations brother inlaw's uncle has

Marketing at its best. Such an intriguing ad... When he says “this boat was clocked at 97”, I think he means the picture of the boat was taken at 3:57pm

I think it was measured by radar, mounted on a boat coming in the opposite direction at 50 mph. The combined speed was 97, so he was doing 47.

The most famous 29'9" Scarab runs close to 100 mph at sea level. Now this is in Liberal California, but it's verified GPS recording at 2,000' elevation is 93 mph. It's the 1979 National Performance Class champion boat P-38 Pure Insanity. Jeff Brown of Hawthorn, CA was the 1979 champ in this Team Scarab 9 Meter Kevlar49 boat. The last 20 years it's been running twin Richie Zul 383s a' 775 hp and appro. 625 ft.lb of torque due to 6-71 blowers. Got modified Mobech TRS drives and CLEAVERS!

Back to the Craigslist Scarab in Dallas. The rumor has it that the owner is an old buddy, since the 1950s, of the late Carroll Shelby, so he knows a thing or two about marketing. However my guts tells me it's got some serious power and if I was a Texan and in the market for a project? Well, he at least would have made me curious. All that glitters is NOT gold, but there are diamonds in the rough and he who seeks finds.

Here’s something...
https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa...064344462.html

Looks like a college kid with too much time made a play dough mold of what he thought an offshore boat was.

^^ Looks like that could be fun if you had an OB hanging around to put on it.
