It's a 5-liter V6 Hemi by BPM. Vincenzo Tiozzo set a couple of World endurance records in its class, back in 1986. Nothing remarkable for what it was. Nobody bothered trying any records in the v-hull runabout, less than 5-liter but larger than 4-liter, inboard class. He was usually in the low to mid 70 mph range on Lake Iseo. The guys that bought this project at Mecum in 2018 paid $4,600 and then sold it on eBay for $4,200. Not sure who took it to Dan at Archer Marine to see if he wanted to help them get it going. Dan mentioned it in this thread in 2019. I bet Dan might make a comment about it. Since they're basically asking 10 times the money now, I hope it runs okey, though that would surprise me. Cool sled for Santa to use for Christmas 2024, we'll see if he's smart enough to bring it to Dan.

Thanks for the history lesson Lars.
Still a pretty rig.
5.0’s used to be a big class for closed course 3 point hydros and they were fast.
Always liked the smaller inboard classes after bing to my first race as a kid.
They had a decent field of 850cc boats at that event.
Powered by ancient 4 banger Crosley car motors.
I remember the boats seemed tiny (12’ ?) and their details really stuck to me.
I remember one had a home brewed lube system for the stuffing box.
A tiny glass container that only held a couple oz’s of oil w/copper tubing formed to the shaft/box, a nozzle on the end w/a petcock to regulate oil flow.
They refilled that reservoir after each heat.
They weren’t fast until you considered the tiny motors that powered them.
Still have pix’s somewhere.
Thx again for the education.
Im OK W/different 😉

I remember when this boat showed up at my shop I thought what the hell. the hull wasn't in to bad of shape but thee motor and drive look to have not been run in a very long time . It's a TRS with a number II lower The motor and gear box are crazy pieces but it would be a lot of fun to run. but the asking price is insane. Regards Dan

You’re in luck!
Seller just sent me an offer of $4k bellow listed price!
Back in the day, the 5 liters were one of the main acts at the inboard races.
Full fields, tightly grouped and fast.
Thinking Kilo records of 110-ish???
Problem w/that idea as a toy is, they’re all set up to be launched from a crane.
Would take a special trailer and a good ramp for conventional launching, which I have seen done.
Small block Chevy powered too so motors would be almost free!

Was thinking same!
Pretty poor ad/pixs for a 1/4 million $ listing.
When we lived down there, there was a guy in Oceechobee w/one but never saw it in person.
I think his had triple 2 strokes.
Looks like a huge hull.
Boosbros, those Porta brackets are killer!
