That Cig 28SS sold to Ohio in 2010. The Michigan seller bought it in 2007 for $30k and barely used it for 3 years. It was dry and in good running order in 2010 with twin SBC 420 hp/piece. It looked nicer without the wrap.

Look up “baddd assss” in the dictionary and you’ll find this!
Agreed on the look w/o wrap.

If that indeed is the same 28SS the current owner ruined it.........spent money to make it worth less

There is an '84 Mistress in Bremerton, WA 98311 advertised for 4k. It's a project, but looks like it has good bones. I'd post a link, but haven't reached 10 posts yet.

28’ Powerplay
Very rare.
Shocked it hasn’t already been posted on here. https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa...513923915.html |

That was listed a few months ago. I think I posted it in the Powerplay section. Had I not just bought my Sunsation earlier this year I would definitely have gone to see it -- but I wonder why it's back up for sale so soon.
People talk but I see a lot of I/O performance boats that are not selling. I think some of it has to do with nearly impossible to get loans unless you pay high interest rates. Just not what a lot of people want anymore. |

The Powerplay must be a rather old model year being that the engines are carbureted.

The last HP500 carb motor was available in 2000. Power play stooped building in 2004-2006?

That boat was out here for a while. The abbreviated version is the hull doesn’t have enough bow lift and isn’t a good ride at speed.
If you look down the steps they are angled down on the aft end, each acting like a trim tab that is down. unfortunate because it’s a cool boat, with some nice pieces. I think with mild power it would make someone a nice boat if kept under 90mph. |

Amazing photographic presentation of a fine vessel.
https://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/73908 Hey the price isn't completely crazy but I'd love to know the last time that boat actually got wet and someone went diving off it! :D |
I like aluminum hulled stuff.
Used see one on Canadian side of Lake Erie from time to time. Was identical to a 30’ something Fountain but made from tin!

Here's the boat in 2008 when it was sold by the Father-In-Law of the manufacturer. An acquaintance of mine in Sweden bought one and stuck twin big diesel in it and changed the cockpit for racing. The boat is famous in Europe. He sold it to replace it with an Outerlimits SV-52 with quad 600 hp Seatek diesel motors. It's a beauty. His Liq. Tech. SL44 went to Irland where it went on to set endurance records.
OSO thread at sale in 2008: https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...ml#post2756823 Here's an article of my Swedish acquaintance SL44 that he sold to the boys in Ireland who founded 'Allblack Racing': https://www.redbull.com/nz-en/allbla...record-attempt |

At least all the plumping is there. |
Way cool history Lars!
Thx for education. Interesting to me also is that when anyone goes “Ocean” racing, they run diesels. But over here in the states where it could almost be called sprint racing, it’s all gas motors.

That would make sense.
Would definitely be a big shift in center of gravity!

i think that boat needed the extra weight of the diesels to make it run properly. With gas engines I think it was too light.

we call that boat the bismark,,it didn't go over the big waves,,it went thru them. and like unlimited said,,it needed bow lift badly.was a cool boat

Gotta love the sellers w/a sense of humor.
Note the comment about the fence post holding the boat together :-) https://swmi.craigslist.org/boa/d/la...533649811.html |
I'm not really sure the fence post thing was a joke...

Anybody want to guess what will happen if you fire that "completely legal" 50 cal. gun on the deck? And I don't care if it's only "gas powered." You're going to have more folks with more weapons aimed at you than you can shake a stick at real quick.

I saw that boat the other day (very busy bridge is next to the marina). I'm guessing they are stockpiling inventory at that dealership for the winter boat shows (Oct is Lauderdale, Feb is Miami, March is Palm Beach). It is a very wealthy area but that style of boat is extremely rare to see. The restaurant next door is more likely to have a pair of Hinckleys at the dock than a lone I/O offshore boat.

https://www.bigthundermarine.com/locations/36661 They Keys definitely need a performance boat shop, nobody wants to work on I/O stuff. |
