Blister Boy & Donzi...finally resolved!
Here is Donzi's official resolution regarding the infamous Blister Boat owner. A classy response from a classic company, in my biased opinion!
|
Nice job Donzi !:)
|
Excellent service, just a year late.
I would hope the person who had the problems would also boast about the condition he got the boat back in. I have no doubt that his voice being heard on the internet had something to do with Donzi finaly fixing the problem. OSO is a powerful forum. You don't want to be bad mouthed here. |
Nice to see that they stepped up to the plate. Wonder what would have happened without all the internet publicity? Hopefully it would have been the same resolution.
|
That sounds like a really sweet deal:D. Wonder if Formula would take back my 1989 and repair some wear and tear items:confused:
|
It's great that they fixed his boat, but didn't they blow him off for about a year or two? I seem to recall him having major frustration getting anywhere at all with the factory.
|
way to go blister boy!!!!!
|
Were is blister boy now saying that they finally made good. Boating I hope but the right thing to do is to tell everyone that they did eventually make good and even went above and beyond.

"Blister Boy" = Major Moron
I remember that there were some major "dealer misrepresentation" with the whole situation which is why Donzi was reluctant to fix the boat. The dealer went out of business shortly after the purchase. So, "Blister Boy" wanted Donzi to fix the now out of business dealer's promises. In my opinion, "Blister Boy" is a major moron that probably could have got the situation resolved much quicker by using other means.
|
They sure do talk a lot about all of the goodwill things they did, taking the extra care to mention that the tabs were installed in the wrong position by the customer. Nice. I wonder why they didn't say very much about the "factory installed" gelcoat and the thousands of blisters that covered the boat.
|
that never should have happened to that boat. Donzi should have been willing to fix it the first time they saw a picture of it.
If that happened to an outerlimits or skater don't you think they would have either fixxed it immediately or bought the boat back and destroyed it. As for eth lack of BB comments. I woudlbe willign to say part of eth agreement was that he shut his mouth. His old webpage showing the damage seems to be owned by donzi now. I'm glad he fixxed it and I'm glad donzi took care of a problem that never should have occured. |
If you can stand by your products its a good thing
customer service is a very important part of your reputation I tell you this from either getting or giving good customer service. example I bought a wireless card from INTEL it quits 10 months later I call they give me a rma# boom send em my card then get a new on back. IM Happy! Now I also Have some road cases manufactured my SKB I've had a few latch failers, I call the 800 line boom! 3 day later new latches. these kind of experiences will keep me a customer of those companies. I know that the boat are a bigger ticketed item so I see there is a slight difference in this kind of comparison. |
Good job Donzi!
There is a lesson for manufactures to learn. If it's a problem that will cost you customers you need to step up to the plate. I don't know the whole story. It would have been a great customer relation’s story if the manufacture stepped up to the plate in the first place and fixed the problem. To see a post like Donzi goes out of there way to fix my boat. I like to see good things and not hear about people getting taken. I'm very happy to see the issue was resolved but wish it had happened a long time ago. Just my .02 Dan |
I hope to own a donzi next!
|
WOW. That is good service. Almost worth waiting a year for.
|
Say what you want about Donzi but several years ago early 90's I had a similiar problem and Donzi stepped up to the plate and took the boat back.
|
Donzi,
Good work. You went above and beyond what was necessary. Blister-boy should've posted Donzi's response. Thanks ajs67Donzi for letting us know what happened. |
Nice to see a manufacturer stand behind their product. I don't know all the details, but nice to see Donzi step up to the plate. Also it appears, they went above & beyond to fix all the other items that they took care of. I don't think some of the big name custom builders would have done all of this, especially with age of the boat.
|
Blisters are a wierd thing and even very smart scientists can't totally agree on how they happen. Nonetheless, if a dealers got a demo that's 3 years old, I will be running in the opposite direction as fast as I can.
|
A few of my freinds have Donzi's and their experience with Donzi customer service has been outstanding.
Nice response Donzi!!! |

One indepth report, all I know is they fixed my uncles 38 Daytona, and he is a happy camper, and its a great boat:D
|
Way to go Donzi, it might have taken a while to get the problems resolved, but in the end Donzi got it done!!

Looks like Donzi customer service has been great to everyone except for the guy that decides to bash them on the internet.
LOL :D |
I own a donzi and obviously this guy doesnt know how to handle himself in the proper fashion in order to get wheels turning.but it seems he got the boat back and its still screwed up?
am I not correct when i read this? I think donzi should tell this guy to go screw himself.. not every customer is right.... especially one who makes a internet war over there boat. maybe thats why it still isnt right after getting it back... they figure this guy screwed up sales by at least 5-10% so SCREW him. I know many of you will look at my post and stick your nose up at me and walk onto your $100,000 plus boats and with an atitudes saying thats not how donzi would handle any customer.. no offense..(im jealousof those $100,000+ boat owners) but how would you handle a customer of yours that kept kicking your shop regardless of what you did? the boat he bought was a demo, the dealer went out of buisness. obviously the hull was a lemon. I see why donzi wouldnt destroy the hull and give him a new one. becasue the cost was to high. maybe if it was a 2000 donzi.. but not a 1996. everyone makes mistakes.... ahh what do i know........ |
on a side note, I had a eliminator body board, and it said on a piece of paper that if you let the board sit out in the sun with the bottom into the sun the bottom would turn into a "orange peel" surface and it would be faster..
wouldnt those blisters make the boat faster? less friction and all? hmm time to build a mold and find out. |
Looking at the pictures of just the red overspray is enough to chap my cheeks. If the hull was warrenteed, The Factory should be responsible for fixing or replacing it. Not the dealer. He didn't build the boat, just sold it. Sounds like they did a bunch of extra stuff cuz they couldn't fix the defect correctly. If I was told it was going to be gelcoated and got paint, somebody would have gotten hurt.
|
Well Donzi get an ATTA BOY, I wish more boat manufactors would follow suit, my next boat just might be a Donzi:D
|
I have met a few customers in my days and blister boy seems to be one of them, no amount of help or perfection done to satisfy them is NEVER enough, seems like he has too much time on his hands, maybe that tells me that he needs a blowboat!!!!
Donzi getts an Atta boy in my book! :D |
It's just like dealing with an insurance company on a claim. The first word out of their mouth is NO.
|
Many great views, Chris I wish you the best, I know we have shared posts in the past, some good, some not so good.
One guy emailed me and said you are in another legal battle with Honda over a generator, a fire or something? What happened? Good luck selling your boat, with your website running it might be a challenge, and I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone here, too much history. Bryan |
Some people just don't belong behing the wheel of a boat and I think this guy is one of them. I for one am glad to see that he is selling his boat and getting on with his life, we are all better off for it. I've had my Classic Donzi for over 20 yrs. and still love it.
|
It is good to see that some people get it.
I’ll happily admit I'm picky (I repeatedly tried to drill that into Donzi's head). Come to think of it, that was the reason I bought a Donzi in the first place. I wanted a Donzi all my teenage and adult life and when I found one in the size I wanted at the price I wanted to pay - I bought it. Sure, at the time I could have bought a non-demo, brand new 1999 22 ZX for a couple thousand more but the cabin was way to small for me (I'm 6'-6"). Maybe at the time I was a little naïve, but I felt protected by the fact that I was extended a full (Donzi) warranty (1 year) and a 5 year Mercury warranty on the engine and drive. The blister problem showed itself 6 months after I bought it (that's over 3 years ago) and I have been fighting with Donzi over it ever since. They did take my boat back to repair it (not my choice but I felt they did deserve the chance) and now the blisters are gone (from the exterior). Let's try this: Imagine buying a demo car from an authorized dealer with a warranty (not uncommon). Let's say that the paint started to flake off the quarter panels in the first 6 months. After some warranty haggling (in my case, 2-1/2 years) they take it back to repair it. It is finally returned (let's say as in my case, 7 months overdue). Ignoring the fact that you had to pay for a rental car during that time and a car payment (I was paying for an empty slip at the marina and my boat payment) when you see the car, the paint is no longer flaking off but the quarter panels do not match the color of the rest of the car. Additionally, there are a couple of areas that are missing paint, the gauges on the dashboard are faded and yellowed, there is paint overspray all over the interior, all the lettering on the dash has been sanded off and there is a dent in the quarter panel (among a few more things). How would you feel? Later, they fix the unpainted areas and the dent but turn their nose up at the interior issues. Additionally, when you negotiated the repair, you were told that there is a warranty on the paint (because you were armed with the knowledge about failed paint repairs). Then, after delivery they re-nig on the fact that the paint repair would not be warranted. Again, how would you feel? I realize that the marine industry and the automotive industry are not created equal (and for the life of me I can't figure out why other than there are automotive lemon laws), but I have racked my brain many, many nights and I cannot imagine a scenario where this kind of customer service is acceptable. I just don't get how us consumers let companies in the marine industry get away with this kind of behavior. Case in point, there are many examples of customer service issues you can find all over this board. But then again, I’m picky. -Chris Bryan, subtle way to try and stir it up - NOT. I can say that I do not have nor have I ever owned a Honda generator (or any other generator for that matter). Additionally, I have never lost anything in a fire, sued or been sued. I actually take pride in the fact that I never have had to resort to those means. Your information is incorrect. Buy the way, somebody sent me an e-mail that said you were gay. Is that true? I'm not, but whatever works for you. :D |
Chris, you ain't right! LOL
Not gay here, hell I have no blisters! On my dick! Or my boat. BUT, good come back points awarded! LOL Not trying to stir up anything, believe me, I could care less about you personally, but I do care about the Donzi issue. You seem to me a "needle in a haystack." Glad to hear there is no generator story... I got to give you credit though, you get the attention you seek. And I was polite on our board in regards to your deal. http://www.donzi.net/cgi-bin/ultimat...c;f=1;t=005278 I will ask, are you involved with any other legal battles? Be honest, I have heard of a few and never posted any data, so you tell us... Your Donzi pal.... Bryan Time for more 1800 I believe! LOL |
Bryan,
Actually, I would prefer living life in utter anonymity. I usually visit this board daily but look at the number of times I've posted - not many. I happen to be a very honest person, and to the best of my knowledge I've never posted anything that was untrue. So, to answer your question - I can unequivocally say NO, I'm not involved in any other legal battles. Additionally, I have not been involved in ANY legal battles in the past. I would think that information would be publicly available if I were. Somebody must have me confused with somebody else. You ARE polite in that thread on the Registry. What happened to the old Bryan? Old age must be getting to you (as it is me). :) I also know you love your Donzi. Believe it or not, I greatly respect that. I don't think I ever said I didn't love mine. Drink one for me! -Chris |
Chris.
Not dogging on ya man. Everything in life is Fun for us.... OSO included. And yes I am getting old getting old.... Good luck. Bryan |
