Solomon's Island for Labor Day...
Offshores Final Score, Mark in So. MD, anyone else thinking about it?? It looks like Agressor 25 and I, possibly CheckmateF! and a few other non OSO'ers are boating down from Woodbridge, on Saturday, staying until Monday. Anyone else going/thinking about being, in the area?
|
OSO Member Bobby B and I live there and are always in the area. I however, may have to work on Labor Day weekend.
|
I can probably make it Sat or Sun. I will trailer down. I went down by boat from Port Tobacco last year. I actually made the round trip on 55 gallons of gas. According to my GPS, it was 160 miles.

You know what they say though .. "Getting there is half the fun"
|
Brian, i would love to but there is to much going on up my way that weekend.
|
Hey let me know my boat is on the lift right across from solomons and i am ready to party.
|
Could this be the OSO get together from last September that never managed to happen?
|
Sounds like it is coming together!!
|
Brian,
I'd really like to come up but not sure I can that weekend. We're sponsoring a Busch car, #22, in the Richmond race the following weekend and have a lot of prep work to get done. Send a message to Steve with RPBA and you might get some of the group to come up. Solomons is a great area and would love to get the Fountain out in the bay up there. I will probably be bringing the boat up there on the 20th and 21st. I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn if anyone wants to get together. Barry |
Great idea Barry. Good luck with the Busch race. Anyone else in the area?
|
Working saturday night 3-11, but after that, i could definitly come over, off all sunday and monday. Also might just have a Sonic by then, but if not, I will still be there.
|
CheckmateF1 will probably not be there. If all goes as planned the Check will have a new owner on Sunday(25th) and be on it's way to a new home on Lake George NY.:(
Eric |
So whats the plan where are you guys planning on getting together at? There are some diffenatly cool places to go. I will talk to some other people tonight at a party and they will probably hookup and party also.
|
Might just make it
Have not had the boat in the water all summer. Hopefully will be done by monday. Will be home that weekend on Friday and Sat would love to play. lets all try and pick a place to meet up. Let me know.

Ha!, Found a super super sweet deal that might be really hard to pass up. I am in a big debate if I should get it or not. Dont want to say much more in case it doesnt happen.

ChecmateF1
Eric,
Why are you selling that killer ride? After all the work you put in I was hoping to see it one day:( Ken |
We may go out with the Motion and a friend may follow on
his kick ass Formula.. Where is the meeting point ?? Doug |
Hey Ken! How is your project coming?
I really hated to sell it. But gotta make some changes around here. Im takin a few years off so I can go bigger and faster later. Eric |
ttt. Who's coming? What's the plan?
|
Yeah guys whats the plan?
|
What's up ? Anyone know ?
|
Yes whos coming, what day and what times?
BobbyB, 29Outlaw, VelocityMike and myself can pretty much come anytime, and hopefully "fandango" sees this, he just bought a cig this summer and is from here. Everyone coming sunday and off monday (labor)day or what? We could meet at the tiki bar and run up the river in the evening for dinner and then head back to the tiki bar for the rest of the evening. There is other places to go of course all on the island within walking distance, if wanted. Solomons Pier- on the river, outside bar, good place to hang, not to crowed Catamaran's-upstairs bar with dancing(hip hop mostly) outside bar with same, younger crowd Bowens Inn-bar, pool tables, music, older crowd mostly Harbor Sounds- Bar, live band, mixed crowd, pool tables -All these places serve dinner up untill about 9pm and they charge a cover from $5-10 for the night life. There is other places to go in the day for ice cream, different little shops etc..... And of course the tiki bar, no admission, free parking(boat) unless you stay over it's $1 a foot, can hang on pier or at bar/tables. |
I'm going to have to remain a lurker until I find out if I have to work this weekend.
|
Mark, 29, Mike, or Bobby; or someone in the S.I. area; can you set a time & place? I am not familiar with the area enough to do so. I would be happy to organize, but I am in Panama City, Florida all week on business, and will not return to VA until Friday night. I am out of pocket. We do not need to plan for an entire weekend, but lets say Sunday or something, say, meet at 11ish somewhere; wait for everyone and chat from 11ish to 1ish; then lets all ride for a while. Does this sound doable? Then we can all head for a local watering hole for early dinner, and people can head back to slips/trailers by dark. How does this sound to everyone. Please, someone follow up on this tomorrow. I will not be able to check OSO until tomorrow night. Lets make sure to keep everyone in touch as well, so we can expand the DC/MD/VA Winter Chill Out for 2003. I know some members of the RPBA are interested as well! Someone please step up; you know I would if I could!
:D :D :D |
Eric, drive down with Katy, and ride on my boat on Sunday!
|
OK, so meet at 11am at the Tiki Bar on sunday, pier and bar should be empty then
Then walk around the island and see things, get some lunch and then return to the boats. Chat some and talk about our rigs or just get in and head up the river for a cruise, after cruise we can return to a beach(only one that we can really go to, all others pretty much private property) and hang there, swim, hang out on the sand for how ever long. Then dinner at what ever time we should like to go, 5, 6, whatever, plenty of places on the river. Return to the Island after dinner and then do what ever you would like, plenty of places to just hang out at and just be mello, or party or pack it up and leave if you would need to by that time. Please Please Please, be my guest and make changes or suggestions as needed so we all can get together, and if we do start the run and you have to join later in the day, cool, that would be great also just to be able to get all of us together some time. Also, are any young ones coming, we can definitly do stuff to keep them happy. |
Sounds good Mark. Where is the beach you are talking about? That's good for me because I will probably have my wife & kids with me. Anybody else with kids? So ...
Is Sunday the day? Meet at Tiki Bar (we should set a time to head out in case people arrive late) Go up to beach and hang out. Go back to Island for dinner or ?? |
I'm in tune with the Sunday thing. If I have to work this weekend, it would most likely be Friday night and daytime on Saturday. My work should be done by Sunday.
|
Sounds good to me. I will be there at 11 on sunday then. And another good place to go is clarks landing restaurant. They have excellant food. Just bring some bumpers for the boat.
|
So meet at 11 and tour the island and do lunch or meet at like 1 and just head up the river, haveing everyone do there own thing for lunch before we meet?
Two beaches actually: there is one going over the bridge(towards calvert) on the left, by the water tower and there is another up the river at Williams Wharf on Battle Creek, Battle Creek is probably the better one(no people with fishing poles), but it does get filled up, if there is boats there we can raft up and hop off and swim, there is one side that is deep(for boats) and the other is shallow and goes pretty far out Then when everyone gets hungry for dinner, head to one of the many places on the river. P.S. dont forget to fill up the cooler so we dont get dehydrated. |
Sounds good to me, and I bet that all in the party coming down from NoVa are game. Ty, stop lurking and POST UP dude!!
|
I hear ya Brian... I have been busy praying that the weather report changes for Sat. and Sun. Seriously, if the weather is bad I am still going. I will just trailer instead of the ride around Point Look Out. The TV weatherman around here couldn't tell ya the weather yesterday much less 4 days from now :D. I know that other non-OSOers will be trailering to Solomon's or to Sandy Point and heading South. Andy with his '38 Cig, Frank with his 32 Hustler, Emil with his 32 Sunsation, Martin with his 33 Awsome Cat and some others that have given me a maybe. Apparently they have booked a room at Harrison's on Tilghman Island and there is a bikini contest going on either Sat or Sun. Either way I will let them know of the plans.
Ty |
I have family visiting for Labor Day but I think I'm in for Sunday! Where is the best place to trailer down to? I know that there is a public ramp near the bridge at Solomon's, but will that be swamped with weekend boaters? Thanks!
|
Should not be any problem using the public ramp at Solomons. At the most, you will get 2-3 boats ahead of you but with 4 ramps operating, it's a minimal wait.
I use the ramp on the Navy Rec Center simply because it's in a protected harbor with zero wake. |
I'm in I'll get the boat ready and my friend with the Formula is coming also but...... we have never been there, I've been as far south to Deale and Harrison's. I have not looked at charts yet give us an idea were to go please...
Doug |
Sometimes I wish my boat didn't sell so quick!!:D
I know you guys will have a blast. Not sure yet if we will come down for a ride or not. But I'll let you know Brian. Thanks, Eric |
Sorry guy's we won't make it, but would love too. I sold the
Formula through a friend and he does not won't to go that far his Bandit engines burn too much to stay at my 80 mph comfortable ride speed. We may go as far south as Deale. Come on up. Doug |
Anyone else?
