All of their ads are the same, 20 lines of info about them, 2 or 3 line on the boat. Not sure that's the best business model, if it turns people off due to lack of info on the product they're supposed to be selling.

I checked with a lawyer and he confirmed that you don't HAVE to read the spam on the dealer, you can skip to the boat info.

I didn't realize that there was info on the boat, besides the pictures. Started to read it. It was like a TV commercial. Quickly closed it.

Are people paying them to list their boats like that?

It's not a legal issue (I'm a lawyer) it's a OSO policy issue. Generally, I would think OSO would have some preference to have dealerships purchase larger, more expensive commercial or banner type ads than use the classifieds to do this. Most other forum sites I frequent have clearly stated policies that prohibit commercial ads in the personal classifieds, but I'm not privy to OSO thought processes, so I don't know. Maybe these guys post enough of these type ads that OSO see enough benefit. Their forum, their rules.

As was stated, reader's option is to not read ad and don't use that poster's business.
